I have received a PCN 99J - Stopped on a pedestrian crossing and/or crossing area marked by zig-zags. It was outside my children's school, and I had stopped to let oncoming traffic through. As there were quite a few vehicles coming, my children took the opportunity to jump out of the car. To make matters worse, this happened twice in one week! Anyone else had any experience of appealing this kind of thing?

You cant appeal the contravention as its an absolute offence. How did they give you the PCN was it a CCTV?
Your best bet is to post up the details and the PCN [washed] on Pepipoo and see if there is a flaw in the PCN or it's issue!0 -

I think the OP can appeal - if this is a PCN, it's from the council. If it were a police FPN it might be a different matter. If the OP hadn't pulled over, and was just stopped in the line of traffic, and this is clear from CCTV, then I'd say there is a good chance of appealing that the contravention did not occur.
I agree that pepipoo is the best place for advice.0 -
Was this CCTV? It's likely they issued it because they saw your son alighting, and although there is no exemption for allowing passengers to alight, but that is not an offence in itself. there is however an exemption when you are prevented from proceeding by other traffic. Appeal on those grounds alone (do not mention your son alighting)0
