  • another thing i dint realise was than untill costs are reclaimed from the other side they decduct your excess soo i got 1700 and got the 300 excess back about a month later. wich had an impact on getting my next car.

    .

did you have legal cover? my claim is going through the legal expenses part of my insurance rather than my insurer (admiral is insurer, Albany Assistance are dealing with claim - confused much!)

i asked them about deducting excess and they told me this would be the cases going through insurance but as its through albany i would have the excess included in the offer - although i have taken this with a very big pinch of salt!

we always pay for our ins yearly on a credit card then balance transfer onto a 0% and pay monthly :o so technically we haven't actually paid it off yet but as far as ins co are aware it's paid :D

i have actually seen the same make and model car (but different colour) for sale local to me but its 2500 so i don't want to agree to buy that one and then only get offered 2k (i can afford 2 or 3 hundred extra but thats about it!)
Is it a bird?....... Is it a plane?............... No, it's the Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmodus!

mine was also amdiral / albany its very confusing lol

if its a write off then basically admiral offer you an amount for your car. say £2000 they then deduct and keep hold of yoruexcess say 300 and send you a cheque for the remainder. then when tthe 3rd part settles the claim with albany they then send you a cheque for the exces they were keeping.

the whole admiral albany thing confused teh hell out of me and i kept finding i had to call one or other or be transfered between them depending on what i wanted to discuss.

best to look up what a new car will costs you dont have to excpet there first offer idid as mine was good lol.

only prob i have had after is fact that albany charges a lot for hire car wich the thrid party dont like and have refused to pay costs wich would appear to be a regular tactic by albany. sooo albany take the other side to court to try and get the costs back. as a result of this my accident was in july but i never got my excess money back until start of october.
  • yeah i'm hoping they offer me the full 2300, even if i get some of it now and the rest later i can budget for it

i just want to get rid of this hire car asap - i need to use my car for work as from next week and im scared stiff of doing something to it lol

how quickly after your car was written off did it take for them to send you a cheque? did you have any other expenses you claimed for? i spent most of last thurs on my mobile to an 084 number so am thinking of putting them in

sorry to keep asking all these questions but as you have been through the same and with the same ins co your posts are uber useful :)

spoke with albany this morning and they said i wont have to pay any costs for the hire car if the other side wont pay :)

  • ermm i had me crash on a monday i agreed the valuation for the right off on following wednesday and recieved the cheque the monday after so 2 weeks from crash to having cheque in me hand. but then obviously take so many working days for cheque to clear. one they issue you with a cheque you have 7 days before they take the hire car back.

If it's going through Albany, do not expect your claim to be settled quickly, they have (Rightly) earned a very bad reputation for being inept.

If you send them any documents eg log book etc make sure you copy it and send it via recorded delivery as there is a high chance they will lose it.
