Shop online at tescos?!

I've used Tesco and Asda recently and been very happy and you can tick a box on your account to say that you don't want substitutes, as has already been said above.
If you don't have time to spend in-store, you can save a bit by ordering online, especially as Tesco and Asda save previous orders for you to re-order the main items you usually buy at speed.0 -
I have ordered from ASDA before and they sent me double of everything and only charged me for 1 set. I ended up giving most of the extra stuff to a neighbour because it was perishable. Tesco are very good, if they don't have what you want in stock they give you a brand up but charge you for the value stuff. For example, I ordered my dog some tesco value sardines but they didn't have any so they sent us John West for the same price. We kept them and had them on toast! There have been a few occasions where something has come like a yoghurt and exploded but I just phone up and get a refund and they also gave me an extra fiver for the inconvienience of then having to go to the shop and get another one.0

I've just tried Tesco online and should receive my order tonight.
Just a heads up though, go through TopCashBack - sign up as a new customer with tesco and get £10.10 cashback! I also took advantage of the 'spend £50 - save £10 coupon' - so my order was just over 50 quid but after cashback and coupon i'll have paid just over 30 :money:On the up

I'm just quoting this post in the hope you won't miss it before you shop. Excellent advice.
I shop online occasionally and have used Tesco's & Ocado. Both have been excellent, although my experience has been that the Tesco drivers are actually more friendly & helpful..the Ocado ones just seem to want to dump the stuff and rush off. It's all down to area I suppose.
Just a couple of things. I would suggest you try the substitutions for most things, unless there really is a particular brand you must have. They will come bagged separately & if you really don't want them just hand them back to the driver & your account will be refunded. Often though, you can end up with a better product for the price of the cheaper one.:) Must say though I'm lucky (or maybe unlucky;)) as with my order being delivered from a depot, subs are rare.
Don't be afraid to ask them to bring your shopping into the kitchen, or wherever suits you best.
If you're available, mid week delivery slots during the day are often available for around the £3 mark.
I've just noticed too..not sure if it's available everywhere, but my online Tesco has introduced a 'counter' section, so I can now order butcher's mince for example instead of the pre-packed which I find much better.I've also been impressed with Waitrose deliver (not Ocado) and unlike Tesco, Sainsburys & Asda, they will deliver free if you spend £50+. They also match Tesco and Sainsburys prices on the main branded items.
Just to add, yes they do, but they match the rrp used by Tesco. So for example, if Tesco's usually sell Finish dishwasher tablets for £12.98 but they have them on offer for £6, then Waitrose & Ocado will match the £12.98 price, not the offer price. No good to me as there are many branded goods which I only buy when on offer, never at 'full' price.
Good luck.:)0 -
With Tesco you can also go into the basket before you check out and make inividual requests not to sub. I'm quite happy for them to sub most of my shopping, indeed have had some good bargains via the price match - just finished a box of wine that was £4.50 more expensive than the one I usually get! However I have it marked that I do not want a sub for my baby's formula milk as I wouldn't want to give him a different brand incase it doesn't agree with him. If I get an offer I always put "if necessary sub with something else from this offer" in the comments box as otherwise the offer won't go through and I'd end up paying more overall.
It took me a while to get into it, wasn't at all sure when I started but was so much easier than taking a baby and a 2 year old to the supermarket and once I'd ordered a few times I found I's got the hang of it.0 -
Totally recommend online shopping for the freedom you have and the time you save.
I normally choose Tesco but there are some things I only like from Sainsbury so use a bit of both and don't find one better. Guess it comes down to area and staff.
I pick my shopping slot first and once it gets near christmas I check reguarly for slots because I really hate food shopping at that time of year.
The only things I can add to what others have said is:
1. Book your slot (available for 2 hours if you don't checkout) then buy some milk and check out. That guarantees your slot and you can go to your account and add to your order.
2. Watch the sizes for things I made loads of mistakes to start off with.
Gradually you build up a favourites list and you can go to that straight away.
Do a few shops - get used to it and then play around with the site until you find the things you want. I had trouble with the searches for a while but you gradually learn.
Don't worry about handing stuff to driver if you don't want it. I don't really like substitutes and sometimes they do daft things like you want.
Watch dates on things though. You can add a note and I often say I want a certain date on an fridge item. Or just don't buy lots of veg from them.0 -
I would agree with the comment that it depends where you are and the store it comes from, but I would also say it can depend down to who picks parts of your delivery. Some staff will put daft subs in cos the computer tells them too while others will use a bit of thought.
Always check your subs and if you don't want anything just give it back to the driver the refund will be processed as soon as driver gets back as long as he is using his hand held computer. If there is anything damaged or that is short dated give it to the driver and again the refund will be processed.
If you notice anything is missing later or damaged or short dated, or worse still out of date, ring the help line and tell them. They will usually refund you straight away or put you through to the store. They may ask you to keep the product to give to the driver or drop it into store but somes they will tell you just to bin it.If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550 -
