Shop online at tescos?!

Because me and my mum are so busy nowadays, we have been thinking of doing that thing when you shop online at Tescos. We've never done it before but are a bit hesitant because we dont wan to order something and it be replaced with a similar item that we don't want.

Have you shopped online at Tescos? Would you reccommend it?

Hi Sophh,

I would recommend shopping online, but I definitely would NOT recommend Tesco! I used them a couple of times but the service was very poor, so I generally use Sainsburys now and they are usually pretty good.

I've also been impressed with Waitrose deliver (not Ocado) and unlike Tesco, Sainsburys & Asda, they will deliver free if you spend £50+. They also match Tesco and Sainsburys prices on the main branded items.

With tesco i think if you get a sub you dont any extra for it(might want to confirm this) but i know for a fact that sainsburys will offer you a sub (if you choose so) and if you want the sub you pay the price rather than the price of the item you originally wanted. You can choose to accept subs or not.

Also for short date stuff the shoppers put them in blue bags so the driver can tell you which items are short dates but im not sure if you can then reject them.

I actually like tesco for online shopping,always a text on the day to tell you what time they will deliver,and never any probs with the delivery. Asda online shopping on the other hand are appauling,always loads of substitues and everytime they always charge me for products but never deliver! Another thing that asda are a pain for are short dated stuff,i had a loaf of bread delivered dated the day of the delivery!! Can't comment on sainsbury or waitrose as never used them. My opinion is tesco online shopping is good.

There's an option on the tesco website that you can tick so they don't put in any substitutes.

I used to love shopping in store, even found it quite relaxing but then our store became a Super Store and I could never find anything.
Now I shop online at Tesco and like the freedom of being able to stick to a budget better as I tend to get catch up in the idea of a 'bargain' in store and spend far too much!
If it adds up to too much now I just go back to my virtual basket and chuck a few non essentials out

All my past orders are stored as is everything I've ever bought (in my favourites) so once I've had a good old look at what's on offer I just go through and I'm done in 20 minutes. I have the time to work out their so called 'bargains' and feels this justifies the cost of delivery taking into account petrol, my time and stress.
They do sub stuff and price match it if it's a more expensive if you request it but you are under no obligation to accept it and the driver will take it back and credit your card immediately.
On the occasion there is a problem with anything I've phoned them (using a number found on the web site 'Say No To 0871' so can ring as part of my contract minutes ) and they have refunded me within a day or so.
It's not perfect, you need to be on your toes and check your order for mistakes.
I have tried Asda which for me was not quite as good (cheaper but too many subs and stuff not available) but all in all it's definitely worth having a go to see if it suits you.

I think Tesco are good actually. They are marginally better than Asda though to be fair I have only ordered from Asda three times, and each time they were good. Tesco deliver regularly as I too am quite busy and do a lot of travelling. One day during one of the horrible winters we had up here within the last 2 years - yes if you southerners are moaning about the weather you're guaranteed it'll be many times worse up 'ere - one of the delivery men asked if he could come inside to use the toilet, and I said "well of course you can you don't have to keep on asking". He turned around and said "I'm not allowed to ask you see", took off his boots and did what he had to do. He then politely asked whether he could wash his hands and I said he could, put his boots back on and said his goodbye. Tesco employees have manners is the moral here LOL

I've used Tesco, Ocado and Sainsburys, and the delivery men/women each time were very helpful and friendly.

I've used Tesco more often though, and quite often have gotten better products because of their substitutions. I would use all of these delivery companies again, but nowadays I tend to go to lots of different places to get the best value for money depending on offers, and home delivery doesn't really fit with this, but then again, I have the time to do this at the moment, as it gets me on nice long walks, taking my baby and toddler out in the fresh air!
