Santander are now refunding interest payments on Cahoot flexible loan's

Hi all,
First time poster and I want to thank lots of people on this thread for the information and advice shared.
I sen my letter off at the end of Feb and got a letter back saying that they will be looking into it with the standard details i think everyone has been getting.
I didnt hear anything else so decided to call today and spoke to a gentleman who didnt even ask for my details just what I was calling up about, when i stated the Cahoot Flex loan he pointed out that there had been a huge number of people in contact and that although he couldnt tell me what was in the response that everyone who had made contact would be recieving a response within the next 7 days.
This i think could be looked at in a negative and a positive way, it could mean that that they are doing a blanket response saying there is no case to answer or it could mean that they will be telling us all that they will be offering good will payments, I actually think its going to be the former.
I will keep you all updated, and once again thanks to all, and BTW I have loved reading your updates Cell its been very useful!0 -
Received my additional cheque yesterday, anybody else received their's
Hi all
Does anyone know why the amounts already paid out are being recalculated? Did you all send additional letters after the offer? I had a decision and 'goodwill' gesture letter on the 17th November and paid into my account in January but not heard anything else from them?
Good luck to everyone still waiting - I think they have a huge backlog and probably no extra staff so stick with it!0 -

You're more than welcome! I've simply posted what I would like to see posted if that makes sense.
Apart from the repeated requests for templates () this has been a very useful thread I would think for all concerned. It certainly feels like we're not alone in this malarky!!!
I'm grateful for your post as well. I'll leave it until after Easter. If I don't get anything then I really WILL go to the FOS, as I'm not sure there's much to lose by then.0 -

Hi Katie,
Thanks I will go and give that one a try. Not saying the email address was wrong I am just wondering if they not accepting emails to that one or maybe their email inbox is Full!!
Now I am gonna dig out any others I have had/have and try them too, worth a shot, just needed a wee push to do the first one!
Cheers to everyone  Good luck....taking one day at a time, its all we can do!0 -
I complained via emailed back at the end of January and received a letter from Santander today turning down my complaint.
Their stance is that the loan rates were in line with other flexible loans on the market at the time, only problem being that once they took over it was no longer a flexible loan
I've spoken to the ombudsman and their forms are on the way to register the complaint with them. No word on my husband's complaint which was sent the same day, his email was worded slightly differently and I'm half expecting him to not be knocked back like me :rotfl:0 -

Just had a call from a lovely lady adjudicator at FOS.
My complaint upheld. Re-working the loan @ 6.69 % from June 2006, to when I complained in Nov 2011, and £ 150 compensation. (Original goodwill offer was £ 480 at 14 %)
I said that I would accept & Santander will give me the detailed calculations. Gesture of goodwill (Yeah right!!)
The re-set to 6.69 % seems to be in accordance with at least 2 other earlier posters.
I think this should now open the floodgates.:j
Is this normal practice? Can anyone advise how long it has taken them from FOS uphold to rebate?
Cheers0 -
The FOS take WEEKS. It took then 4 weeks to even send a letter saying they had written to Santy to ask for their details. a couple of weeks later I received another letter saying I should hear within 12 weeks, 7 down and nothing yet.
The FOS is snowed under with all the PPI claims!0 -
I have bitten the bullet this week and taken out a fixed loan to pay off the Flexi-loan balance of £2351.83. Interest rate on new loan is 8% which is a heck of a lot better than 21.08%.
I still can't work out the Santy strategy. Did someone go rogue and start offering good will gestures out of a sense of moral responsibility? But now they are apparently going back to the hard line "we were allowed to do whatever we wanted thank you very much" attitude.
Very strange indeed, particularly as some who have refunds have recently got additional money following a re-calculation. Why would they do that out of the blue? Perhaps to head off any future ruling from FOS?
Anyway, I am baffled but still hanging in there with my complaint. Any refund I get now will come directly to me and I will put towards early payment of my new loan. However, I do think I will need to complain to the FOS and don't expect a final outcome until late summer at the earliest.
Thanks to all on here for posting their experiences.0
