• On the same boat as a lot of you guys, i found this forum by chance as it was on the MSE Homepage!
I had a Cahoot flexible loan that was paid off in full with a settlement figure after i defaulted on it.
My problem is as it was mostly an on-line account, i don't have much paperwork for the loan.
I failed security when i called Cahoot to get my account number as they were asking how much the loan was for and what was the monthly payment etc etc.
So i have written to them providing proof of address and dob in the hope they can provide me with this info.
I am not even sure i qualify for any money back as the loan has now been paid off?
I know i am going over repeat Q's on here, but what exactly is it we are claiming back, the interest we paid when the Apr % was hiked, or the length of time they hiked the rate?
Have people had a valid response from email's alone or have they had to all end up writing a letter via post?
Cheers in advance guys!

This is the Abbey web page that has their details for complaints, that's all you need.

http://www.santander.co.uk/csgs/Satellite?appID=abbey.internet.Abbeycom&c=Page&canal=CABBEYCOM&cid=1210607166846&empr=Abbeycom&leng=en_GB&pagename=Abbeycom%2FPage%2FWC_ACOM_TemplateA2

As for a template letter you really don't need it, just give them as much info on you (when did you take out the loan, what was your address at the time etc) and then tell them you think that their interest rate hikes were unfair etc.
• Hi, I wonder whether you would be able to send me more details of what you put in your complaint please? Many thanks Sally
• For those asking about what to write and who to - I think Happy Bunny posted the template on the previous page or two.
Im at about ten weeks now, was holding back on the FOS after the spate of activity with the re-calculations, but nothing looks to be happening again so it looks like I will have too!

For those asking if they are eligible, if you had a cahoot flexi loan that was then transferred to Santander you are entitled to claim. Account numbers would be better but I think they can get you with your address details. From what I gather if you had it paid off with Cahoot before the transfer to Santander you are not likely to be successful. Please correct me if I am wrong!

Emailed 'Complaints.ChairmanCB@santander.co.uk' this morning for an update on an aspect of my complaint and received a reply in thirteen (13) minutes!

A shocking turnaround time from our Spanish friends but fair play to them.

The reply indicated that I could expect a response to the complaint in 7 - 10 working days by the way which is promising with respect to getting a definitive answer at least... assuming this new timeframe is honoured (unlike the twenty one working days or eight weeks).

I've copied the email footer below for those that may also wish to email, phone or fax(!) in queries.

I supect that they can not cope with the vast number of claims that they now receive for Cahoot loans. Well its their own fault for such shark practices.

You can refer to FOS but as soon as you do this Santy will no longer do anything regarding your complaint. It goes on hold until the FOS has dealt with it. With the FOS taking 4 weeks just to send an initial "we are looking at it letter" and then 12 weeks to investigate your complaint I think we all have a long wait.

Pity the refunds do not attact interest on the refund at the 20% rates that Santy have been charging us !

Spoke to a v efficient staff member at Santander a couple of days ago- Michelle at CEO's office for an update again as complained ages ago on 25 Jan. She said it was still being investigated. I had ppi on the flexi loan so she took the mis sold complaint verbally from me over the phone and has launched a second investigation which she had she would personally look into and basically told me I would get a resolution from that quicker than the flexi loan. So keep fingers crossed for a flexi resolution too. I'm sure back in the earlier bits of this thread someone mentioned that Michelle used to negotiate the 'goodwill gestures'. I'll keep hanging on I think before FOS but need to set a date really in my head or it could go on forever!
