  • this is unbelievable! more recent complaints getting knockbacks, older complaints being offered MORE.... one still cannot fathom what on earth Santy are up to....

however, my guess - they have a kick up the a**e over the offers being wrong for the older complaints but have found a way to reject the newer ones.

I still maintain that it will be discimination of some kind to offer to some but not others!
  • Hello all.

Sent off an email on wednesday this week to the CEO, and got a letter on Friday stating that they will look into our concerns.

There is nothing about the 8 weeks they have to give an answer, although it does mention the ombudsman service if we are not happy with how they deal with my complaint.

Fingers crossed we get some loot back from them
  • Here goes!
Email fired off to CEO as instructed. I found my flexi-loan settlement letter from and it details the massive interest rate I was being charged, as well as the start date of the loan. My email is quite polite and I do point out that I have a current/mortgage account with Santander too (in which I deposit a big wedge every month). I said that I trust and value their opinion and am sure that they will look carefully into my particular case. Let's see where being nice gets me huh?!

Perhaps all claimants should take a step back and spare a thought for others in these difficult times:

As all offers to date are 'gestures of goodwill' there is no incentive for them to revise upwards as far as I can tell... unless that falls in line with a new/amended across the board calculation and settlement process.

Maybe that is just wishful thinking as my case is in limbo.

To be honest as much as the repayments have been and continue to cripple me financially I am relatively comfortable with the FOS as a fallback should they fail to deliver a suitable settlement before my eight weeks have elapsed.

    Update- FOS Uphold!!

Just had a call from a lovely lady adjudicator at FOS.
    My complaint upheld. Re-working the loan @ 6.69 % from June 2006, to when I complained in Nov 2011, and £ 150 compensation. (Original goodwill offer was £ 480 at 14 %)
I said that I would accept & Santander will give me the detailed calculations. Gesture of goodwill (Yeah right!!)
The re-set to 6.69 % seems to be in accordance with at least 2 other earlier posters.
I think this should now open the floodgates.:j

I rang them today, my complaint has only been in a week, I've had the acknowledgement letter, but thought if ring anyway.

Spoke to a polite guy, he said it was ackowledged and would be dealt with in the 8 weeks allowed, he did say they were dealing with alot of flexi loan complaints at the minute!

So what was the actual judgement if you don't mind me asking?

My loan was for £12k at 6.69% in 2005 and is still at £8k now!
  • Hi, could someone tell me how to get this all kicked off. I'm new to the site, have just come across this and haven't read the whole thread yet.
I have no idea how to start the complaint process, so any templates that have worked for anyone else would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

I came accross this thread a few weeks ago, ive waiting for a response from Santandar regarding my flexible loan which jumped up to 20%. I've been paying this for eight years and have not even made a dent in this.

My question, looks like people are now getting rejected. Any success stories with this lately?
