I had a flexible loan with Cahoot and I came across this thread when searching how to claim back PPI.

The account is now closed and sadly I don't have any paperwork...will I be able to request this information from Santander? Are they likely to tell me if my loan rate was hiked??

Just presume it was and complain. If necessary you can SAR to get details. When was he account taken out and closed?

They are replying to some emails, i sent one enquiring how far along they were with my complaint on the 5th of march and they did reply on the 8th just to say it was being investigated but at least it was communication of some sort i suppose. However i think they are just hoping it will all go away and people wont take it further.

it may purely be that my complaint is fairly recent and they can easily palm me off due to the eight week deadline, whereas they have to make a decision fairly quickly with yours now. not sure because although it was a polite email response it basically only said we are investigating and appreciate your patience. hang on in there because as you have stated really due to their own rules they need to get back to you asap now.

Look at Cahoot's old websites !!

Found a website that holds snapshots of old websites - So you can go back and actually look at cahoots old website and get the T&Cs and see what you actually signed up for - Bet even Santander can't do that !!!

    Go to
    http://www.archive.org/web/web.php

Under the waybackmachine enter the cahoot website
    http://www.cahoot.com

you can the select the date that you want to look at the website.
I wend back to look at the Cahoot website in 2005

For those on the verge of engaging the FOS, it has been confirmed to me in writing by one of the Adjudicators that they are "obliged to be consistent in our decision-making".

I should also stress however that it was also mentiond that each case will be judged on it's own merits.

However this should give those optimism when taken in context of others successful claims via the FOS.

    Good luck to all.
  • thanks oracleman and denza. I submitted mine a couple of weeks ago and have had an acknowledgment letter but no emails. Mine ran from 2005 to 2008, my mum took out a loan for me to clear it as I couldn't switch it anywhere. Just been on the archive website and the advertising even states that the loan rate will stay the same, no matter how much you borrow!
