A petition to ask MPs to get tough on banks. They need to hear that we haven't forgotten about the banking scandal and we want banks to work for us. We need tougher rules to keep banks in line, proper punishments for bankers who break them, and it should be easier to move our money when we’re not happy.

MPs need our votes to stay in their jobs. So let’s remind them who they really work for, with a petition signed by tens of thousands of us, telling them to get tough with the banks.

So it seems that ombudsman wants to consider a complaint which is similar in nature to ours, he must be considering loads then! :rotfl:

    Will keep y'all posted.

I spoke with the FOS today and as may have been mentioned earlier they have a team of people dedicated to this issue.

No decision has been made yet, but I have been promised monthly updates.

On this front I believe that an advertisement for an Abbey Fixed Rate Loan may have been included in some December 2006 emails as per below:

    http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?50792-Cahoot-doubling-interest-rate

Unfortunately Cahoot have been unable to provide any historic emails for reference.

Of course an 'advertisement' does not constitute an 'offer' as all those Cahoot applicants who were summarily rejected for an Abbey Loan can attest to.

Apparently I was a poor credit risk myself if I remember correctly. With an existing Loan to Cahoot on the books that was subject to ongoing exponential APR increases I can't help but agree!

Santander for their part have subsequently had the good grace to refuse me a Loan switch on two separate occasions (2010 & 2012) for similar reasons; God bless 'em!

    Good luck to all.

Case of double standards really isn't it. It's ok to have debt, in my case of approx. £3.5k at 22% but ask them to lower the interest in order that they'll get their money quicker, or ask for a fixed rate loan for the amount outstanding and you get the brush off. And then they have the cheek to send correspondence about minimum payments.
  • What about the one case that's already been lost in this thread?

That case is with an ombudsman, as I understand it, it was only an adjudicator's decision so not lost. The final FOS stage is Ombudsman.

When I asked the adjudicator today she was unaware of any recent decision. As far as she is concerned they're all lumped together.

Perhaps a rogue one which slipped through the net?

Whereas my recently appointed Adjudicator stated explicitly that a recent case (which I believe to be farmer1971's) was decided in favour of Santander however this has gone to the Ombudsman for review.

That being said, he also confirmed that each case against Santander is answerable in it's own right.

So, for instance, if you present different arguements against Santander than those given in previous cases the respective Ajudications will not be as relevant.

    Good luck to all.
  • Mine to is with the FOS, who have updated me saying they requested information from Santan, that was about 10 days ago, and this morning I got an alert from equifax saying my credit file had been changed, no surprises who it was. Santan have changed the loan type from revolvin credit to a loan account and changed the credit limit from £8000 to £0, but haven't change what was in my complaint the fact that they state it will take me 999years to clear. Very odd.
    Good luck to all
