When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. :D

Morning everyone  and happy weekend :j I had yesterday off so feels luxurious having another 2 days :T went to London with dd yesterday, started off being very difficult - she's very emotional at the moment - but as the day went on it got better and ended with us having a good day :T I really needed it! Expensive though - very

So need to counteract that!
  • [STRIKE]check banking x 2[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]do VSP & update sig & spreadsheet[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]update spending diary[/STRIKE] - am scared :rotfl:
  • check through fridge to see what needs using up
  • do cupboard/freezer inventory & work out meal plan for next week. last week spent £65 on shopping & still have quite alot left. Much better than the £88 the previous week
  • list a couple of bits on ebay
  • [STRIKE]go for a run[/STRIKE] was out for 40mins - about 25 was jogging & 15mins power walking :T feel really good for it
  • off to my friends 30th birthday party tonight. Might drive to keep costs down - although might not!!!
  • go for a run
  • make a cake
  • [STRIKE]change bank accounts to co-op to make the most out of the £200 joining bonus[/STRIKE] :T get oh to do it too & then I think I get another £100 for leaving firstdirect :T:T:T
that'll do me. Hope everyone has a brilliant weekend

    Hello :j

Thanks for starting the thread DNMS, and I am pleased to hear that you had a good day out with your daughter :T

    So far today I have:
    [STRIKE]
Put washing on, to dry outside (hopefully)
[/STRIKE] Put it out, but it didn't really dry - must hang it up on the airer as it is just plonked on a chair at the moment :o
Dishwasher on, using free posh tablets sent by Pinecone to try out :T (I usually use Aldi's ones, which work fine, but will happily use posh ones if they are free :D)

Listed 4 items on ebay, which took ages  Hope they sell! One has 6 watchers :j

Gosh that doesn't sound much does it  But I still have a yucky cold, and blummin ebay took a really long time.

    Later I will:
[STRIKE]Trundle down to town to get some more flu plus thingies, and some cold sore cream as well [/STRIKE] Done

Read the letter to my OH from HMRC about his self employed NI contributions carefully. Why do they make everything so complicated? A job for tomorrow I think after the ebay debacle

Continue to clear surfaces that seem to sprout clutter when I am not looking  Ahem, still 'a work in progress'

    [STRIKE]Clean chooks out[/STRIKE] Done :)

[STRIKE]Maybe do a little bit in the garden as it looks quite nice outside [/STRIKE]:) Swept up the patio, got rid of some rubbish and planted some strawberry plants. Haven't tackled the front garden yet though.

Look at bowl of windfall apples that are slowly decomposing before my eyes - decide whether to use them up or throw them in the compost :oThey are still there

    Bit of ironing  Tomorrow?

[STRIKE]Leftovers for supper / my lunch. OH will be out till late afternoon, and I have the remains of previous 2 days meals to use up - sausage casserole, and cauliflower and macaroni cheese. So, macaroni cheese for my lunch, and sausage casserole for both of us for supper, with jacket spuds [/STRIKE]:D Pal came for supper but we still haven't finished all up - lunch again tomorrow? Was nice though!

Still no sign of brother - wonder what he is up to  Still no sign...
  • Morning Everyone,
Quick break from work for late brekkie. Split shift again today and tomorrow so can't get up to much.

    Todays list:
Will fill up car later on way past mr M (cheapest on route and miles points).
Washing machine on later and dry on airer at lunch.
Walk pooches at lunch (looks like in the rain!:()
Meals from stores, including packup for tea tonight rather than buying something.
Try and get a couple of bits on Ebay. Why is there always a free listing weekend when i'm working!
Enjoy my extra hour in bed tonight! :D

    Have a good weekend everyone.

    Morning all!
Glad to hear that everyone is having a good weekend so far - especially Determined - you deserve it!

    Already done a few things....
    • Caught up on recorded Corrie and Emmerdale from last night when I was out
    • Texted friends - one to thank for last night's cinema and dinner trip (I paid for the tickets she paid for the food:T)
    • Walked dog in the park - nice to see him running around like a puppy
    • Popped to greengrocers on the way home - spent £4 on a pomegranate, 3 bananas, 2 apples, 2 tomatoes, 2 punnets of raspberries, 4 satsumas - not bad I thought
    • Bought small milk in Spar (use less than a small bottle a week these days)
    • Bought 8 cans of Diet Pepsi for £2 in local off licence and a packet of crisps:o but resisted wine for tonight:rotfl:
    And still to do...
    • Have a hot bath to warm up - its freezing in the wind
    • Do one load of washing and dry on radiators/dryer thing
    • Do year 12 schoolwork and maybe more year 10 lessons (will be ahead of myself then)
    • Stay in tonight
    • Walk dog again
    • Make sausage and mash for tea using up some very cheap potatoes from Aldi and maybe make some cheese and potato pie with extra mash for tomorrow
    • Do a body and face scrub later and maybe dye hair (although might do this tomorrow)
    • Rejig budget to last the 2 weeks to payday
Thats all for now - have a good weekend!

    Hello my lovelies!!!

I am so pleased you had a great day out with your dd DNMS. You deserve a great weekend.

My new table arrived yesterday at MIL's! Desperate to get it home! Sooo excited!

Tonight MIL and FIL are doing fireworks, pumpkins and a night time BBQ. We have OH's son round for the evening so he can join in! :D

    So today

DD2 at a party - fed lunch there
    NSD
Sort out and divide up the meat OH bought home from Mr S deals
Decide on recipes for the above meat!
    Meal plan
Put a loaf of bread on for eggs on toast tomorrow morning
    Free dinner at MIL's
    Free entertainment at MIL's
carry on not logging into facebook for a week!
Look online for cheap presents for xmas
Afternoon at Mums - so lunch provided! :D

That is my day! Nothing much!

  • Small things I'm doing today ... let's see ...
    • found somewhere which sells the kind of tights I like cheaper - usually £5 a pair, now can get similar for £2 a pair!
    • have swept £125 into Christmas account so I can't spend it
    • went window/dressing room shopping to stave off my severe craving to buy clothes ... had a tense moment in Debenhams with a 70%-off beautiful dress but my resolve DIDN'T crumble!
    • won a free drink in BHS cafe when I donated 50p in a raffle to Save the Children
    • found a wallet in the street and handed it in to a security guard in a shop (not saving me money but might save someone else when they get it back!)
    • went at 8am to have a carvery breakfast with OH with the Toby Carvery 2 for £6 vouchers
    • contacted promoter for guestlist at the club tonight
    • going to Lidl for the first time to do food shopping when OH finishes work - not sure what to expect!
    • decided that Halloween costumes are a total scam and I refuse to dress up for going out tonight - if people ask what I've come as I'll say, "A cynic."

That's all so far ... hope everyone is having a good weekend :j
