I'm looking to have a speaker system in the flat with speakers in each room without also having a stereo, what is the best way to do this? If this is possible.
Do I do it all through my computer in which case how do you do that? Or is there a system that can be bought where you've got the main hub and just connect the speakers in each room?
A little assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated

Both methods you have described are possible.
Basically you need to put a speaker in each room and wire it up to some server, which could be a computer or a "ready made" solution.
I would google about for home automation etc.0
