Leasehold building insurance - new owner making a claim after the event

Options
Hi,

Not sure the answer here but hoping this may be possible.

We recently moved into a new leasehold flat. Prior to us, there was some sort of water damage (leak) in bathroom and bedroom. This appears to have happened several months before we moved in.

There is mould and some minor structural damage, however may be more as we have not inspected the internal areas.

We want to know if the repair work may be covered by the i) building insurance policy or ii) new building 10 year policy?

One thing we don't know is how the original leak occurred but presume bath pipe burst or broke. We also do not know if current damage is caused by leak or tenants failure to resolve issue sufficiently.

Any ideas?
