You know Ulster Bank is part of RBS so expect that to be closed as well, if they as a bank hate you that much!

i never knew that, i thought they were separate from rbs.
I guess if i applied for an 2nd account with ulster this would trigger the closure.

Attempt to open a Basic Bank Account with a bank in a banking group you have not burned your boats with (HBOS?). For a basic bank account there is a "presumption of acceptance" except for the reasons in the last column.

If you are declined it can only be because of "fraud", in which case somebody, Lloyds TSB probably, has done the dirty on you. If so up to you to find out if what has been said about your account conduct is correct. You are entitled to your personal data being 100% accurate.

Of course if you are successful with your Basic Bank Account application and breach the terms of your account, the same thing may happen.

BTW, the "declining left right and centre" (on new applications) could easily result from your employment status, however basic account applications are unaffected by employment status (or credit rating).

i thought that may be one of the reasons too.

I have not applied for a basic account yet, i will apply for one with the co op.

I wanted to know is there anyone that can recommend a good business account?

If your basic account gets refused then TSB may have registered you with Hunter, so I'd then sending a SAR to Hunter to find out exactly what.

So i am clueless as to why banks are rejecting my applications?
It sounds as if wrong data has been entered on your record and that it has multiplied itself throughout the banking system. Someone enters hearsay onto the computer and it's then taken as gospel and repeated endlessly.

File individual requests under the Data Protection Act with the banks to find exactly what they hold on you.

It seems that you have been running a private account as a business account and that may be the cause for banks to decline your business.

As if the customer service agent will tell you if you are going to have a CIFAS marker. Its well above him.

So many accounts from different institutions.

Possible business use on a personal account.

Foreign payments from China. No not unusual but given all the circumstances combined.

All the above will raise suspicions when they look at your credit file especially if you are unemployed.

Sounds like you been CIFASed man.

when I opened an account at LTSB there were only certain members of staff who were allowed to open accounts.

I lived in a block of flats so at the street number, street name there were a number of CIFAS records. This always stopped automatic processing of applications.

The guy who opened the account knew that the codes that came up on screen meant he had to call fraud to get past that part as they meant there were CIFAS markers there.

So why would it be above someone who is qualified to open accounts to know what fraud is, surely they are part of the first line of defence, and if they give out the banks risk index to people I don't see them having a problem telling them the issue is one related to CIFAS.

After all they are obliged to point the customer in the right direction of a decline and if that is suspected fraud, as long as it is not tipping off money laundering suspects then telling the customer there is a data matching problem with CIFAS is more than reasonable.

Why so many people think bank staff (no I am not one) are so thick I don't know.

New Biz can check for CIFAS markers with Lloyds.

Account closures will not tell the customer a thing especially if the reason the account is getting closed down is for fraud, money laundering etc. The adviser can't wait to get the customer off the line as it always end up in a screaming match. Its fun!
