Old National Savings Bank ordinary account

I've just come across my old National Savings Bank Ordinary account book - which has a balance, dated 14th April 1983 of £6.02 ......can anyone tell me (roughly) how much the interest will be on that magnificent sum - or to which address I should send it, in order to reclaim it - will it reach double figures ????

Do you really want to know if your book is worth £9 or £11? Will it make much difference what you do with it?

Send it to the address in the book Glasgow G58 1SB which is still valid. The web site says

Ordinary Account/Treasurer's Account/SAYE/Yearly Plan/Deposit BondsAll the above accounts and investments have now been closed completely and any remaining funds transferred to the NS&I Residual Account.
Customers of these accounts and investments wishing to have their money repaid should contact us and ask for an 'NS&I Residual Account repayment application' form.

Thank you!! It will be interesting to find out how much the compound interest turns out to be (I can only remember the formula P x R x T/100 for calculating simple interest :D). In 1983 £6.00 was not an insignificant amount - I'm surprised I ignored it!

This was the account that I used to use for saving family allowance - at that time (for the 4 children) I received £23.40 per week :)

The rates on the Ordinary account have been, well, ordinary for as long as I can remember.

I think you'll sneak over a tenner. Just.
