Howdens sale?

Been getting some quotes for a new kitchen and had a fitter round who has taken my ikea plan for a quote from Howdens today.
Got a message this afternoon saying he's got a "really good price" but I'll have to order tomorrow as the sale ends tomorrow. I can't get in touch with him until the morning to see what the deal is so thought it was worth a try here in the meantime!
a) Can anyone confirm is there is in fact a sale at Howdens that ends tomorrow, or does this sound like a line to make me order soon?
b) If there is indeed a sale, how good are the discounts generally? I could really use a few days to check out a few things (like not 100% sure if I want a built in microwave or not yet). If the extra discount is significant then I could be forced into a decision, but if I'm only saving a a few quid then I'll take it as bad timing, swear a few times and pay a bit more next week.
Worth rushing for or wait and collect my thoughts?

Howdens have what they call their period 11 sale on at the moment.
They have to take payment and DELIVER the kitchen by end of play tomorrow for you to qualify for their discount otherwise you won't get it at a discounted price. Oh and specify softclose units & drawers or u won't get them.
I don't wanna break any rules on the forum by saying too much cos I work as a branch manager for another rather large kitchen company who design and supply kitchens.
I just wanted to give you a heads up on their period 11.
Hope it helped0 -
Thanks, I guess I'll give that up as one that got away then!0

Hi
So on Monday there won't be a discount from Howdens!:rotfl::rotfl:
If Howdens didn't give their 'amazing', dare I say 'too good to be true' discounts they instantly wouldn't sell a thing!
Ian don't worry, you take your time. Buying a new kitchen and getting it right is FAR more important than any kind of discount from Howdens.
Good luck0 -
Their 'sale' period to us meant £200 off and a free dishwasher, a saving of £500 total. The other discounts remained the same.
You can still go with Howdens next month, you'll still get the bulk of the discount and if you can still haggle to drive the price down (they price match). You just might not get that final few %.
Better to make the right choice in time than the wrong choice in a hurry.0 -

Absolutely right. I have a Howdens kitchen and foolishly let builder get the dishwasher. The motor went on it after 15 months and cost £100 + to repair and then 12 months later the rotar arms stopped moving due to the plastic parts wearing out. On the Which website I found another user who had the same dishwasher, same problems but in the revers order:eek: I scrapped it and bought a Neff.0 -
Oh well. You live and learn. Right now just a kitchen, any kitchen would be nice.0

Thanks all. Got the plans yesterday and the "sale price" is/was £2600 which goes up to £3200 on Monday (including the infamous 75-60% discount on most bits). So a decent deal but I'm still erring on the side of Ikea- equivalent cost is £1800 (units only).
Definitely getting my own appliances, I spend far too much time researching stuff like that to leave it to whatever the cabinet makers have in stock. Bosch stuff is looking most likely at the moment, along with a Duropal worktop that we can cut down and fit to the Ikea units as the Ikea worktops all seem a bit ropey to me.0
