Check your final Scottish power bill for a cancellation charge.

Just received an amended final gas bill from Scottish power and found at the bottom of the bill under other charges a £20.42 cancellation charge. I telephoned them and complained and was told that it was because I had switched suppliers during my contract. I replied that because they had increased their prices, I was allowed to swap suppliers without incurring a cancellation charge. By the way, I had informed them in the correct time period. Guess what, the customer assistant agreed and removed the charge.

My advice therefore to everyone who has left Scottish Power recently because of the tariff increases is to double check your bill especially under the section of other charges.

There seems to be a systematic failure and as SP have stopped commenting on this, posters are left to draw their own conclusions.

Luckily,you noticed but other Customers may have been been incorrectly treated.
