How long does it take to setup a DD?

I setup my Amex direct debit last Wednesday and my dd is due to go out on the 11th of November. Will it have setup by then? How will I know if it has setup?

Also how long does it take to setup a dd on a virgin cc?

    It won't be up and running in time, because your statement pre-dated it.

    It'll collect for the first time in December...but ONLY if your November statement says it will.

    So, in general, DDs are set up very quickly...a matter of days. However, the DD will only collect if your statement says it will.

    Usually 5 working days to setup but it commences from following months statment.

    Does the statement say payment will be taken by direct debit? If not, you'll have to make a payment using another method.

    Just got my statement. It does say it'll come out via DD. So is that guaranteed then?
