car insurance with no driving history

Insurers generally do not explicitly ask how much driving you have done in the past but simply how long you´ve had your license, if you´ve had claims in the last 3-5 years, how much NCD you've got and how much driving the car will do in the next year.
I do not know if you are offering up more info than is necessary but if you use an aggregator like confused.com there will be no questions over if you've actually been driving or not and premiums will simply reflect you have no NCD. £700 isnt too bad considering the no NCD but you would be expecting to be getting some intro discount giving the other factors so possibly not as reasonable as rs65 suggests.
You could call your existing insurers as you say it is a second car as some will allow NDs to either a) gain NCD whilst being on a policy or b) will mirror NCD onto a second car. Again, they'll know you were a ND from their records and I'd be surprised if they ask what percentage of the time you were actually driving.0 -
Thanks. Have already contacted existing insurers and are waiting for them to get back to us.
Will probably shop around a bit more too.0 -
The questions are usually how long you have had your licence, and what ncd you have.
If you haven't any ncd, some companies will give you a discount based on you being a named driver for a few years, but there is no obligation to tell them how much (or how little) driving you have done.
A good broker may help, or direct line or the co-op.0 -
Got a quote for less than £500.00, worth shopping around.0
