Free Electricity from Solar

Has anybody ever actually managed to obtain FREE solar panels from a company offering them?
I have tried 3 different attempts to obtain free solar panels.
Attempt number one was refused because they said my roof faces the wrong direction. They require a south facing roof.
My roof DOES face south, not that it matters.
I'm an engineer and I'm aware that south facing produces best results, but solar panels use daylight, not sunshine to work. Even streetlights can produce a small amount of power!!!
Attempt number two had a look on google maps and agreed that my roof is facing south, but they refused because they said it was too small.
(British Gas) measured my roof as 21 square meters but told me they need a minimum of 25 to fit free.
Attempt number three, this was the end for me. They refused because they said my roof is too small. They require a minimum of 20 square meters and I informed them that British gas had measured my roof at 21 square meters, but they didn't agree and so I am still without free solar panels!!!
If anyone HAS had success I would love to hear about it. Especially in Scotland.

Well firstly today's news probably means the end of 'Free' systems - called 'Rent a Roof' systems.
Many thousands of people have had these sytems fitted.
The problem is that the Cherry Pick the best roofs, and in Scotland(where the generated output is lower than most of UK) you are at a disadvantage anyway.0
