Compliment from beautician

Please explain to me what exactly was b*tchy about it. What was malicious or mean?
I've been reading here for several years, I don't post much, but I do read this board every day, and I've noticed that you post about the same topics over and over. I can understand someone asking ONCE about foundation vs tinted moisturiser, or liquid eyeliner, or about whether to still use powder at our age, or about which cleanser is best for dry skin. But you have repeatedly asked the same questions over and over. I am sorry but I read your uncertainty, and reasons for asking so often, as a lack of confidence. And I hoped that someone complimenting you on your skin would help to boost your confidence.
Maybe I'm a b*tch because I'm the only person who has noticed that you ask the same questions over and over? I just think it's odd that you need to ask the same thing time and time again. But I don't believe that makes me mean or malicious.
Maybe sarcastic is the more appropriate word. I realise now that you didn't mean to come over that way but thats how you came across at first, ie saying things like 'now you've been told you have nice skin maybe you'll stop posting the same things over and over again', that does come across as sarcasm rather than just advising or implying a lack of confidence, sorry but it does and others have obviously noticed it too. But things do come across differently than they are meant sometimes when written down and you can't see the person's body language.
Please don't beat yourself up about it, I understand what you are saying, I'm just explaining how your post came across at first.0 -
heya,
Question for Citygirl (as you clearly have nice skin!), lessonlearned (as you are a beautician!) and anybody else who might be able to help!
I am 27 and have used the big blue tubs of Astral or Nivea (dependong on whats on offer!) since I was about 14. I think I started because I heard thats what Joan Collins used (why I wanted to look like Joan Collins when I was 14 I have no idea :rotfl:)
Anyway, I love the feel of astral / nivea, and havent been keen on other more expensive etc brands I have tried, but I have heard that as this is an all over moisturiser, and not especially for face, it should only be used on the body, not the face. I think this is maybe due to the fact that it is so thick, and it may block pores? Is this true?
Also, as it does not have all the anti-wrinkle what-nots in it, should I start thinking about changing to something a bit more fancy?
Any thoughts / opinions anyone has would be much appreciated!big bad debts: Gone!

If its working for you I would stick with it, some people use oil on thier faces, others soap and water, skincare is such an individual thing. You should be looking at keeping the skin hydrated, anti aging products with this and that in them can make a temporary difference but thats all its ever going to be and if your skin is dehydrated in the first place you'll never win.Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -

!
Yay another Astral fan! I have good skin for my age and this is by far my favourite moisturiser for my face. I've tried much more expensive brands but still keep going back to my blue plastic pot.
If it suits you then carry on. It doesn't bring me out in spots ( Argan oil was awful for that) and nothing else leaves my skin as soft. The fact that it is cheap enough to use all over is a bonus too. No need for multiple products!
I think that the very factor of it being so thick makes it so efficient at sealing mositure within the skin and you don't need to use very much so a pot lasts for ever.
At nearly 50 I do use some fancy anti ageing serums as well but for basic skincare - Astral.0
