Had a productive day today and sorted out my wardrobe and all paperwork i.e. insurance policies, financial statements etc. I always feel better after de-cluttering.

In the process, I also found my necklace which has been missing for over a year. I don't wear much jewellery, just my wedding and engagement rings and some stud earrings, but DH bought me a beautiful necklace many years ago and I wore it on our Wedding Day. I thought that I had lost it but found it wrapped up in a scarf! No idea how it got there but feel so relieved :).

I have been offered an interview next week for the college course I have applied to study part-time in September. Looking forward to this to find out more about the course.

Did some shopping on Amazon, through TCB and made use of the extra cashback for purchasing DVDs. Bought a DVD each for the children for their Birthday's (which is over the next few weeks) and for Christmas. I know it's early to talk about :xmassmile but I have created a wish list on my Amazon account and will be keeping an eye on the prices.

It has been a productive week. Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine :).

My Stocks and Shares ISA has been closed and I have transferred the maximum amount I could into my new Cash ISA. The remaining money is sitting in Savings until it can be transferred on 1st July in line with the ISA changes.

Checked my old financial paperwork when I had a clear outlast week and I have made a PPI claim for Mortgage Protection Insurance we took out in 2006. Just have to wait 8 weeks for the claim to be investigated.

Purchased quite a few Christmas presents this week and what I decided to buy the boys were on offer online, with two presents both with 50% off for a limited time, therefore I made the most of the deals and purchased through TCB using my Cashback Credit Card.

No underspends this week due to buying Birthday/Christmas presents and Father’s Day Gifts.

Had an interview this week for the college course I have applied to study and . . . I was accepted onto the course :j. Really looking forward to starting in September.

My Plaster cast has been removed and I am back on my feet again, however still taking things easy as my foot/leg feels weak. I can’t believe how much my leg has shrunk and it looks odd . I can’t wait to be able to go out and about with the children and be able to drive again. I have not started back walking (for exercise) yet as just standing at the moment is tiring, but can’t wait to get back into the swing of things. I have been advised that I can’t drive for quite a few weeks yet, so will be off work for a while longer.

It's great when you get a cast removed. I crunched some small bones in my foot when I was teenager and I still remember the lurid hues of yellow and purple when they removed the cast. I looked like a Serrano ham :rotfl:

This has just made me :rotfl:. My foot looks grey/purple and although I am walking/shuffling around, I can't flex my foot so I am having to swing my leg out to the side so that I can attempt to walk.

I have spent quite a bit of money over the past fortnight and got round to doing some jobs that had been put on the backburner.
    • DH’s friend is a plumber so we had our shower fixed, costing £50.
    • Called my Car Insurance provider as I had two small chips in the windscreen. Auto window people came out and repaired the chips. This has cost me an excess of £25, as I thought that there was no charge for window repairs with my insurers, but obviously I was wrong.
    • I had the tracking done on my car as the wheel was out of line and car was veering to the left, costing £15. DH also needs to have his front tyres replaced in a few weeks, so that it going to cost around £150.
    • Had a local scratch/chip repair company come to take a look at some scratches on our cars which were present when we bought them. Had a quote of £95 which is very reasonable for both cars to be done and this will be done at the end of the week.
I seem to be struggling to understand my Npower account . We pay £80 a month for dual fuel and I try (when I remember) to provide monthly meter readings but my account is showing as £337 in credit. My next payment is due around 2nd July and if the credit continues to increase I will contact them and ask for a refund.

Hiya, I think Npower only produce the invoices 6 monthly so your credit will grow, and then be allocated against the next invoice. Think that's how mine worked, it got up to about £1300 in credit, they produced the invoice, then last month I got a nice £400 refund!

    And £80 a month - WOW - mine's just been reduced to £177 from £219!

£80 a month duel fuel. that is fabulous ... well to me .. our electricity is more than that plus we still have to buy bottles of gas as well ....
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Just caught up with your doings Daisy and what can I say but WOW! Superb news on the mortgage and getting under £60k, I am pleased for you. We need to catch up now!

Also great news on the car and I am mighty impressed with the stuff you got thrown in for free! Only word of caution is regarding breakdown cover, which I never know is worth it or not. You do get what you pay for and the big players like the RAC and the AA have major resources to get to you and the car. Small firms and chains and insurers often only use local networks, i.e. they call the local guy with a Transit recovery truck and hope for the best. We don't have breakdown cover now, but when we did I always went for one of the major players, not the cheap alternatives. Who'd you rather see on a rainy, windswept night - AA man with the right gear and decent lorry or tatty transit with bloke in greasy jeans upset cause he's missing the football?

Sorry to hear about you ankle and glad you're on the mend. Inspirational stuff with the savings, well done!

Hi Megela and Watty. I hope that I can get a rebate when my new bill is re-calculated in September.

My dual fuel monthly payment used to be over £100 but since I put my hot water on a timer, rather than keeping it on constantly I have noticed that our gas bill has reduced :D
