    Hi LauraJo

I love my new car :). I like driving higher up and feel safer in it. It is not as good on fuel as my old car, but it's doing around 52 MPG on average based on driving around 350 miles a week, so I am pleased with this.

I love my new car as well. And even more so when summer comes and I can have the roof down.

    Not that I'm having a mid-life crisis you understand :D:rotfl: :o.

    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

Unfortunately I don't have a roof that comes down, it's a panoramic roof, but at least the children like watching the rain :D.

I have made a large Mortgage OP (money which had been kept aside for OP’s until August) which has brought my Mortgage balance down to £60,648. This means my term has reduced and I am now projected to repay the mortgage by February 2022 (one month off my original target of January 2022) :). It also means that I should be in the £59,000's by the end of June.

I have made a large OP as my Mortgage Borrowing Facility is being reduced at the beginning of June and with this brings a reduction in the monthly minimum mortgage payment.

My 3 main focuses at the moment are:
    • I am trying to save as much money as I can with the aim of becoming ‘Mortgage Neutral’ as quickly as I can so that I am no longer paying interest on the mortgage. This will mean making better use of the Offset account, but I will continue to make occasional OP's just to keep my motivation up and see the mortgage balance reduce.
    • I have set myself an ambitious target of saving £25,000 by July 2019. This means that I should be able to pay off the mortgage by my 40th Birthday and also have a good amount left in Savings.
    • I am trying to get the minimum monthly Mortgage payment as low as I can, in case of job loss/job change etc. My minimum monthly payment is £553 but I pay £750 a month. I am thinking that if there is a change on the job front, having the minimum payment as low as it can be would be a great help.

    Other non-related MFW:

DS2 has been accepted into school and will be full-time from September :j. I will be saving some money as no longer paying nursery fees but my After School Club and School Dinners costs will be doubling.

What a week :(. I have broken my ankle due to misjudging the bottom step of the stairs and am in a Plaster Cast for the next 4-6 weeks. Luckily I will get full sick pay from work for the time I have off. Then today, hobbling around the kitchen making dinner (and still trying to get the hang of using my crutches) I cut right into my finger (just missing the tendons), so it was another trip to my local A&E for stitches. Things just seem to be going wrong at the moment :(.

I am currently in a resting plaster cast and am having my cast changed at the end of next week. I have been told that I should be able to put weight on my foot and walk on it, as they will give me a boot - can’t wait for this as I will then be able to get around the house a little better.

I am bored stiff and really miss not being able to do outdoor activities with the children and going for a walk/do any exercise. DH and our families are helping with the children as I can’t take them to school etc. I'd be lost without them :heart2:.

On the plus side (if you can call it that :o) - I had to do an online food shop and bought less so saved money and there was no expenditure for fuel for my car as I can’t drive, so I had an underspend this week of £70 :). £35 was put into Savings and £35 was paid into one of the children's Savings account.
  • Poor you! I hope it feels better soon.
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D
  • Hi SweetDaisy, so sorry to hear the news. Bad enough with a broken ankle but the cut sounds dreadful too.

Thanks SSS and Tilly :). I am hoping for a speedy recovery as I hate being immobile and just want to get back to normal as soon as possible.

Hope you are mending and not toooo bored
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
