Wishing you a very Merry Christmas. It's lovely when the children are asleep and the Christmas stockings are ready.
Best wishes Tilly2004 £387k 29 years - MF March 2033:eek:

Had a lovely Christmas. It has been a very busy two days, boys are excited and I feel really shattered now :xmassmile.
Back to work for me this afternoon and I am 'on-call', however I am getting double-time for both, which will be paid in my January pay.
Had a puncture driving home from work on Christmas Eve, called the AA who put the spare on for me. Took my car to the garage today (as I don't like driving on a spare) and ended up having to have both back tyres replaced, as they were getting bald. That cost me £110, but at least it's done out of the way.
I've been trying to have a think about New Year's resolutions and not sure that I will make any this year. Financially, I hope to put as much money into Savings as possible, whilst still making overpayments, but not set any targets as yet.0 -
Next time you need some tyres have a look on quidco first. I got some a couple of months back via blackcircle, which meant I got cash back as well as 3 times tesco points on the order.[STRIKE]Original Mortgage 07/07 £160000 LTV 100% [/STRIKE]Remortgaged 10/13 £118000 LTV 84%

Thanks suse* I'll take a look at the blackcircle site. I am a member of Quidco, but don't tend to use them, as I prefer TopCashback, but I've never considered getting tyres online before.

They were good when I used them. You just have to make sure you get the right size and not assume the numberplate checker is 100%. Just on my car as it had alloys they were a different size to the one the numberplate thought. Then it will show you local garages where you can get them fitted.
They have other places on there too like halfords etc, but when I bought mine the blackcircle deal looked best.[STRIKE]Original Mortgage 07/07 £160000 LTV 100% [/STRIKE]Remortgaged 10/13 £118000 LTV 84%

Don't discount your local tyre shop/fitter (not the big chains) as they will often match online prices and you get good services. Remember with stuff like this, if everyone starts buying online, then there will be very few fitting shops left as they have all the overheads.
Additionally if you have a front wheel drive car, if buying two rears, you'd be wise to ask the fitters to put the front tyres on the back and the new tyres on the front. This gives better wear as front tyres scrub out quicker than rears.
Glad xmas went okay, all the best for the new year!0 -

Thanks for the info. I am very loyal when it comes to my car as I use local independent garages for services and tyres. I have known them for years and know that they do a good job, can fit me in as soon as they can and they don't rip me off.
My rear tyres had been on the car for just under a year (I think?). I drive around 350 miles a week (a lot of it motorway driving) and have not long had new front tyres. Next time I'll ask then to put the front tyres on the back and new on the front.0 -
£38 overpayment made today, so I will start the New Year with a mortgage balance of £65,400. I started the year with a mortgage balance of £76,600 and we have reduced the mortgage by £11,200 :j.[FONT=verdana, geneva, lucida, lucida grande, arial, helvetica, sans-serif]

[FONT=verdana, geneva, lucida, lucida grande, arial, helvetica, sans-serif]I have had a think about my financial plans for 2014. My aim is to get the mortgage balance down to £55,000 by the end of 2014. According to my spreadsheet, this will also reduce my mortgage term to January 2022 (which was my original target when I started my diary).

I have some money to redeem from survey/cashback sites but am not going to do this until the New Year because I want to start afresh with my spreadsheets for 2014.0 -
