Car insurance without a driver?

Is it possible? I'm thinking of buying with my wife as owner [but she doesn't drive] so that I can drive it with my own "3rd party cover on other vehicle" cover.

I think there is no law to prevent a person from buying a car [even if s/he doesn't know driving] - so there should be a provision for similar insurance as well.
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

Driving other cars was "designed" for emergency use only otherwise your 17 year old rich kid could buy a 1.0L old saxo and insure it in their name and then have Daddy buy a Aston Martin DB9 and the saxo never leaves the driveway and the kid drives the DB9 all the time under the driving other cars.

To create a policy which covers third party risks but no driver would encourage the above behaviour.

The other option would be to create any car policies as exist with motorbikes where you are insured to use any car up to a certain engine/ performance/ value... engine will naturally be the most sensible option to use given that performance and value are much more subjective.

Who does a policy like this? I have a multi-bike policy but would love to save a £ or more if possible?

I am not a biker and we dont sell bike insurance so dont know the market well. From a theoretical point of view they are called specified rider policies and doing a google for it brings up many links talking about specified riders and specified vehicle policies but not any links to a company that sells them.

Would only suggest you phone the normal suspects like Carol Nash and Devitt

Like any driver policies for cars though I suspect they are fairly costly and only really worth it if you do ride a large number of different bikes
