Hi everyone, I think I need some advice here
On the 20th October I bought an argos gift voucher on eBay, for £290. The buyer had 100% positive feedback and I thought I'd be protected because buyer protection, paypal, blah blah
I've not heard anything from them since, and my worst fears are confirmed when I saw they've just received a negative feedback for no receipt/ no communication.
So I tried to open an ebay dispute and it wouldn't let me! Apparently it falls outside the ebay buyer protection, certain categories aren't covered :-(
What can I do to try get my money back? I paid by paypal, which was linked to my debit card.
I tried to open a paypal claim but i'm not sure if it'll get anywhere, apparently 'items equivalent to cash' are exempt as well
It was listed under:
Events Tickets > Gift Vouchers & Coupons > Other Gift Vouchers & Coupons
I feel foolish not checking everything through but I should just concentrate on how i can get my money back, if at all.
Help much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Can I do that? I'm worried they'll send me away for wasting their time0

See what happens with the Paypal claim.
You mention that your Paypal account is funded by debit card: is that a visa card? Visa does give some measure of protection, even when the card is a visa debit card.
Finally, get as much information as possible about the seller and ask the police if they can help.0 -

It seems that you are the victim of fraud, which is a criminal offence. Obviously the police do not have magical powers so you would need to give them as much information as possible, but I would certainly expect them to take the matter very seriously.0 -
You can do it, they may well send you away claiming its not a crime or that these issues have to be handled by financial institutions rather than the police because they don't like taking on things like this.
Speak to your bank, they probably wont do anything either but always worth seeing if they will.
The buyer had 100% feedback.... over how long? how many feedbacks? any for selling similar sorts of items?
It could be the buyer has gone off on holiday or such which whilst remiss for doing so it is only a week since you won the auction! It doesn't feel as if you've given them that much time to respond.0 -

Thanks Voyager :-)
It says it'll take 30 days to notify me what would happen, to be honest I'm not optimistic about it, since they're owned by ebay, and the item title was vague, it was just 'special listing' (because it was a second chance offer/ buy it now)
Yeah it was a Visa Debit, do you think I should go to the bank soon or wait for the paypal dispute?
I've done a request for contact information on eBay, hopefully that'll give me their phone number, but it could be fake, argh ebay!0 -

Looks as though the seller might have had their account hacked, or they have set up the account specifically to defraud people. They had 100% feedback but it was for less than 10 transactions as a seller.
Have you tried asking ebay for the sellers contact details?0 -

They had a feedback score of 6
I should have be more careful, kicking myself right now! I can't believe of all people I've been conned, I always saw myself as an ebay old hand lol, been selling since 2005! They sounded really nice and genuine in messages prior to the sale.. doh0 -
Sorry to hear about this.
The 7 positive feedback items are very recent, from July-October. Three of these were from the same buyer jerzy-filipkowski
Checking out jerzy, they have not only bought from but sold to your seller, ag*21.
I'm not sure the odds of something like that happening by chance, but I'd definitely ask e-bay to consider what's going on.0 -
Have you left negative feedback yet to warn other users ?
some poor person had bid £747 on an i phone0
