Help... paid £290 for an item but it's not covered by Ebay

Had a rethink on this one ,then posted in the totally wrong thread, sorry. There is an outside chance of getting the voucher here as the time of purchase and transfer of funds for the seller, would only put the cash in their money around now. I could see the voucher turning up this week if not a SCAM. Then back to original if not received.0

I think the chances of this NOT being a scam are virtually non existent.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Mind you, if it was the item I thought it was, I could see why you trusted him, £105 iPod arrived in tact, just goes to show, anyone can be caught out!
One person left 3 feedbacks for this seller, allegedly having bought 3 totally random items from him/her which I find rather odd (this person being the one who is alleged to have bought the iPod)....0 -
Just tried the link and the item has been removed by ebay, so maybe the OP has a chance of a claim. I was to slow in seeing the link to retrace the feedbacks. It is quite amazing just how stupid some scammers are, when looking back through the feedback. Please keep us posted on this one.0

It could be that you'll have to go down the small claims route.
They've sold an awful lot of high value items almost £4k in the last 14 days.
I would be very suspicious of a newish ebayer listing that sort of value when they only have a handful of feedback.
I do hope that you're able to get your money back somehow.
The thing is I don't have his address or real name (his paypal name could be fake), ebay has given me his mobile number and that he's registered address is in birmingham :-(
I think I'll wait the 7 days on the paypal claim then try the police, briefly spoke to my bank over the phone, and because it was through paypal they didn't really want anything to do with it,
Thanks for the replies everyone, hopefully i'll have some good news soon0 -

Even left them positive feedback, How nice.
I wonder how many more ebay accounts they have lined up? You may want to keep an eye on items this
person has bought and sold. Find a pattern and pre-empt their next scam.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Something similar happened to a friend of mine, she could not claim from paypal at all. She spoke to her building society (nationwide) they told her they could not help either. She then went to the police, and demanded a crime ref and for them to investigate. They (the police) contacted eBay who gave them seller address etc, and then they contacted the sellers local police station, and sent someone round. She doesnt know what happened there, but upon contacting bank again, and explaining the police were involved via police advice they actually did to a chargeback.
Worth a try..0 -
