Quote for stripping wallpaper and re-plaster

Hi,

I would some advice on the following quote I've been given for the decorating rooms I've been given.

The size of the area is . There are 2 rooms ground floor ( 12 x 13 ), Kitchen (8 x 18 ) , HSL (roughly 15 x 6 )

- removing the chimey breasts from the 2 rooms
(chimeny breasts from the rooms on 1st floor is already removed so no issue about putting support for the chimeny on 1st floor
= (2 * £500 = £1000)

- stripping wall paper from all the walls and roofs
skim and re-plaster all the walls and roofs
paint all the walls and roofs
remove skirting and put new skirting
paint skirting and all the 3 doors, stairs railing, = £5700

- Total = £6700

All the work is only for labour NO materials!!!

Is it fair!! But I've told the pasterer is a top-notch, I wouldn't notice any trovel marks and the walls will be as smooth as anything
Btw we are in London

I agree with Jasons. I had simular work done, but my rooms were much smaller. You could try bringing the cost down by hire an industrial steamer your self and hire a handyman to strip the walls, this could bring your costings down.... just a thought.

    London prices are ridiculous!

Why not be a super money saver and strip the walls yourself? That's what I've done and I have been given a great feeling of achievement from it. It's also very therapeutic :)
