I am being left to rot grrrrrr

Just need to vent really.

At the grand old age of 52 my Rheumatologist discharged me from clinic and just basically said stay on painkillers and have physio.

So thats it, i need crutches to walk, have had a hip replaced and pain in many joints yet he is not prepared to do anything as he is not convinced i have Psoriatic Arthritis even though one of his peers diagnosed it and put me on medication (which he took me off!)

Sorry guys just feel so annoyed right now.:mad

Thanks for reading:)

If you're not happy with the decision then ask your GP to refer you back under the basis you want a second opinion.

Or perhaps if it's possible get the referral for another hospital entirely.

A referral to a Pain Management clinic may also be an idea.

i had same thing with ankylosing spondolitis. one rhumi put me on anti tnf drugs, then said he daint know if i got it. drugs daint work? now new rhuim thinks i may have it???? or what you got? my head is shot.
  • I remember telling my Gp that i wished i had a broken leg, you can see it, it shows on x ray, you get treated and it gets better.

With this i feel like they think i am making it up, though my hip cartilige being destroyed in 10 months should give them a clue, in fact Rheumy discounted it totally.

It does mess with your head i agree

Probably not much help, but have you considered seeing a specialist privately.
It might then be possible to have a more appropriate course of treatment by the specialists NHS team.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

You need to really sit down and take stock. I don't know what area you are in, but Pain Management is a lottery as I found out today. You need to then tell your doctor you want an end of surgery appointment, warning them that it will be a long one as you want their assistance.

You are entitled to a second opinion, you are also allowed to chose any hospital, including private under certain circumstances. Look up your problem and see where and who is best at sorting it. Then tell your GP where you want to go. For example, I travelled 1h 20mins today for my pain management appointment, but that is a different story.

You need to sit down and see if your objectives are doable. Don't simply think I want to be cured or back to normal. You need to have something you can get.

Then make sure you get a copy of your files, go to PALS for that. Take them to all appointments as you can be 100% sure they will not follow you around. My six inch file did not today. Good job I had mine on me.

I was willing to sit and rot, wait my time out. But people on here have helped me out massively. I have now taken my fight to them! I will be posting a new thread over the weekend once I have my thoughts together as I was told today I am a victim of the postcode lottery, with the help of my virtual friends on here, I am not willing to lay down.

Fight for your rights and the treatment that will help you. If you don't you can bet your GP and Consultant will not. Good luck.
