Foreign Channels on Sky

Hi,

Not sure whether this is the right place to ask but here goes..

We have recently got Sky and as I have studied French in the past decided to watch the French News Channel - think its called France 24. Anyway its mainly in English - is there anyway of having it in French or is that what happens with the foreign channels - they are talking in English over the French that I want to listen to! There is a bit of time when they arent talking over in English but not much!

Hi,

Not sure there is a way to get the French language version through Sky, but their website https://www.france24.com has options for French and includes live feeds, might be an option ?

We recently got Sky installed and I've been poking around in the manual settings for finding channels - have a look in your userguide to find how your box works and maybe if you find a channel's website, they will have some details on the manual setting of channels. Which could be used for Sky box. I'm not sure myself, I was too scared to try it

I'd also like to find French

I just feel that if we are able to get France 24 what is the point of having the English speaking over the French bit?!

Going to go have a look through the book to see what I can do!

Sky Analogue on the original Astra used to have an audio button for the different audio subchannels. I dont know if they retained this for sky digital

Thanks have had a look through the book and through the different menus but havent found anything - have sorted the PIN number out so any programmes I tape are locked so noone can delete them - and noone else knows the PIN number!

With Euronews which broadcasts in about 4 languages, to get it in German I have to go into the Sky box Services menu and set up the main Language as German. From then on Euronews comes up in German. This does not affect any UK channels as German is not available on them. There does not seem to be a way to change language on-the-fly.

http://videos.tf1.fr/video/ has some French news broadcasts in French - it might be useful if you are looking to practice your French comprehension (and you have broadband. There are others - best to look on Google.

tv5 french language is on sky 803,i think the number is.

Yep as said above try changing the language option from the menu. This has worked with several channels as well as Euronews. My personal grump with Sky is that they don't have Dutch or the Scandinavian languages, but I guess they only do the major ones. Maybe it's time to move away from Sky and go Satellite SOLO.
