Visa for USA after caution ?

Hello all
I'm confused by the American Visa situation !
My friend was arrested and cautioned for fighting in the street 2 years ago, it never went to court and he doesn't have a conviction. His job requires him to have a criminal CRB check thingamyjig and that was OK.
Does he need to apply for a visa to visit America on holiday ? And if so how long does it take and is it a pain in the bum.
Thanks

to be 100 % sure yes he does. BUT
as has been posted in the past if you don,t delcare it on the "Visa waiver " form you get on the airplane over US border control have no way of checking. ( i very much doubt your parnter is on Interpol either lol) if it was me i would just go and in the very unlikely event of being interviewed for entry because of it plead ignorance and use the "did not think it counted " argument . doubt they would refuse entry even then after all he was never convicted !!!!. don,t hedge your bets so to speak and put anything about it on the green waiver form and you will be fine IMO
i very much doubt you would refused a visa if you applied for one as it tends to be very serious crimes ( espically drugs) that they refuse visa for. that and being a terrorist basicallyBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

Thanks for the advice - I'll pass it on and see what he says, he actually thumped a man who had grabbed his 14 year old daughter inappropriately. The police who arrested him agreed with what he'd done but they had to go through the motions.0
