What's the car? If its something older that at the end of the day can be afforded not to come home again then Id say go for it. Ok you'll have the substantial fees if its bagged into a barrier, but at least you'll have these fees only and not finance on the car for another 3 years too.

Would be interested in knowing what the car is and what's been done to it, I would take two sets of wheels, one with something along the lines of Toyota r888's and one with good summer tyres invade its wet. Make sure the. Fluids are all fresh and if possible dot 5.1 brake fluid should be used, a harder track biased pad is also a good idea if the discs themselves are decent. Any worn suspension components take an absolute hammering on track, eveb if you are taking it relatively easy as you will still be pushing harder than on road so these need to be checked too.

It is great fun. We spent a week there with HRC. I would recommend staying in the Dorrint Hotel. It overlooks the new circuit and we were fortunate to be able to sit on the balcony and watch touring cars go by.

You can buy a lap or a day pass is cheaper. Be careful to check in advance as the circuit is often closed i.e. booked for private parties. If you go on an open day expect all sorts of vehicles.

    Thanks:-

Looks like the ring taxis need to be booked in advance is this correct?

I noticed on the "Offical" website some comment re taxis not being allowed, presumably this means unlicensed for the track vehicles?

Looks like you can purchase laps over the internet and get the vouchers posted to you. Can you pick up additional ones when there if they have capacity? Are laps allocated to named drivers or could a block of laps be used between two, providing licenses and vehicle in order.

The "offical" site mentions insurance needed for foreign vehicles. I thought it unlikely you would get insurance cover for your own vehicle but what are they after? Do they flog some kind of collison waiver product for the track itself - for a price?

If you are driving during a touristenfahrten then it is a public road and obviously must be insured (closed track days are different). Unfortunately most UK insurers won't cover you (either naming the 'Ring, or by excluding derestricted toll roads), which can lead to issues especially if you have an off.
