Difficult Paypal - Ebay case

hii,
recently I sold something on ebay, unsuccessfully and ebay has refunded the buyer. That's not the problem though. The issue here is, once they refunded the buyer and I always keep my paypal balance at 0, my account now went to negative.
Let's use a small example so you understand better.
The refunded amount was 40 gbp and my paypal balance was at -40. Up to here, I agree with what ebay has done. After that I received several payments amounting to, lets say 60. So my new paypal balance was now 20. (simple maths huh?
)
So technically, I "Paid off the debts" right? Now my account was back to normal (positive) and every thing's fine.
...not so fast.
Yesterday I received an e-mail in the form as an invoice stating that I have to pay the 40 gbp to ebay since the sale wasn't successful.
Waaiitt! What?! I thought I already paid the amount by getting my paypal account back to positive!
So yea.. that's the situation I'm in right now.. it seems like I have to pay the amount twice?!!:mad:
Anyone's got advice for me? I tried Customer Service of Ebay and I felt like punching that guy on the phone, he sounded like if he's just woken up and couldn't help me at all -.-"
any help appreciated

Maybe, just maybe, you need to somehow give ebay £40 of the money that's in paypal. Even though one owns the other, the 'debt' might be with ebay itself, not paypal.
Just a thought.Exclamation and question marks - ONE exclamation mark or question mark is sufficient to exclaim or ask about something. More than one just makes you look/sound like a prat.
Should OF, would OF. Dear oh dear. You really should have, or should've listened at school when that nice English teacher was explaining how words get abbreviated.0 -

From the OP though, eBay have already taken the money, from PP.They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0
