Holiday insurance is it okay to go after a heart attack

This is for my friend who has took holiday insurance out due to start when she goes to Bangkok and Vietnam at the end of november for 3 weeks . Since taking the policy out over a month ago her partner has had a heart attack and a stent fitted.His doc has advised he is ok to travel but will her insurance still be valid to go as his health has changed. She is worried the insurance will be massively bumped up as a result but she feels she may have to declare what has happened in the event of any problems out there.What does anyone think about it?:question:

    Below is an example from a travel policy. She will need to check her particular policy to see what is required.

    Medical conditions
    After you have paid for this policy, you must tell us if you are diagnosed with:
    • any heart condition, any circulatory condition (problems with blood flow, including high blood pressure) or any breathing condition (including asthma);
    • any type of cancer;
    • any joint and bone condition;
    • any gastrointestinal (stomach) condition; or
    • diabetes.
    We will then decide if we can provide you with cover on your existing terms. We may ask you to pay an extra premium, add special conditions to the policy or exclude cover for that medical condition.
    If we cannot provide cover for the medical condition diagnosed after you paid for the policy, or if you do not want to pay the extra premium, you can call us on 0845 ******* and make a cancellation claim if you have booked and paid for a journey that you have not yet made. Or, you can cancel your policy and we will send you a refund, as long as you have not travelled or made a claim

    Expect a massive premium increase if the policy has the first clause bulleted above.

    (edit: loving the outcome of the post below though)

    I know this might be the exception rather than the norm, but my father had the situation last year where we had a holiday booked, travel insurance organised (which covered him for his angina) then, 10 weeks before the holiday he had an emergency triple bypass.

    He still wanted to go on the holiday but was sure the premium was going to be hiked up massively. Imagine his surprise when it was actually reduced by £5. Apparently, having had the surgery, he was a better risk than before.

    Ring the insurers and see what they say.
