Romatic but cheap weekend break

OH and I hope to get a two night break away without the children (3rd time in 15 years!!!!!) in the next couple of months and wondered if any of you lovely knowledgable people had any recommendations?
We would like to be within a couple of hours drive of London (in any direction) and preferably would like the weekend to come in at around £200. I was thinking of maybe a cottage where we could walk (stumble) back from a local restaurant each night after dinner and then drink our own wine (very MSE!) cutting down on the cost of dinner. In an ideal world we would have a lovely fluffy four poster bed, a roaring fire and a jacuzzi bath but am happy to compromise!!!
Any ideas gratefully received as I have spent ages trawling websites and getting knowehere - obviously not very good at it lol!

to be fair, this site is about sharing stuff.
If we all just pm'd each other, no-one would benefit.
Idiophreak, hopefully you have benefited from someone sharing information on here."Sumptus censum ne superet"

Jeez, you guys are nosy/strangely holier-than-thou

my recommendation was for the cottage hotel in brockenhurst - sadly this probably doesn't constitute a getaway for you, piratess
it's not mega-bargainous or anything, so I didn't see the need to bore you all with the details, is all

We normally go to Rye, East Sussex. Lovely ancient town. Loads of pubs and restaurants in town to fall back home at night. Have a look at
https://www.rye-tourism.co.uk and https://www.visitrye.co.uk , we are going this weekend but only staying at a cheaper motel. Jeakes House is meant to be lovely, also the Old Borough Arms and The George all well located.0
