Recently separated, Single Parent and Mature student

I am a recently separated, Single Parent and Mature student (47yrs), Husband left at the weekend, his choice. I haven't worked since April 2011, due to the work load of final year, and poor health (stress). No close family living nearby for support.

In my final year at Uni, son is 13yrs. Living in the marital property which is mortgaged and on interest only payments, ex works and gets £24k salary but is not reliable for support (gambler).
I currently have the standard student finance & loans £6,000 + course funding + child tax credit of £48 as of Tuesday.
I have spoken to Council about council tax, and Tax credits which were reassessed to £48, and got most utilities transferred to me.
Are there any benefits etc that I could claim, or actions I should be taking as I really didn't expect this.
Thanks in advance
