Switching and getting a credit balance refunded

Hi all, just *how* long can I expect to wait for my old supplier, Eon to refund me the £200 that I was in credit with them when I switched to EDF at the start of September? Eon sent me a final statement on 24 September to say I was £200ish in credit but then said they would charge me £30 cancellation fees. I phoned in to point out that I was switching from my contract because they had announced an increase and the assistant agreed that the £30 shouldn't and wouldn't be charged. But since then, over a month now, nothing.
Any advice would be gratefully received!

Hi,
When I cancelled my Eon it only took about 3 weeks to receive the credit on my account. It may be worthwhile phoning them again and chasing it up. I always found their customer service very good so hopefully they won't charge you the £30. Here is a cheaper number than the 0845 number if you don't already have it (0115 843 4147). I have used this in the past so hopefully it still works.
Good luck!

Hi keithrjones
axled is right, you should certainly have had your refund by now
They don't always go through automatically, if there's any estimated meter readings on your Final Bill or you've cancelled your Direct Debit.
Give us a call (if you haven't already) It's easily sorted or you can send me an email (to the address in my profile)with your details and I'll take care of it for you.

Just a quick update. Amanda the EoN rep mentioned above got onto my case as soon as I gave her my details and I'm pleased to report that the refund was credited to my bank account today!
It's good to see how situations can be sorted by using the MSE forums and of course, employees such as Amanda!
