Booking 16-25 railcard tickets
Options
Hi
I purchased a 16-25 railcard ticket on the virgin website for December. At the time I booked the ticket I did not actually have a railcard but I was intending to buy one before I travelled so I got the ticket at the railcard price.
I am just thinking now though does it matter if you did not have the railcard at the time of booking the ticket. I am just a bit concerned as it shows the date when my tickets where booked, and the expiry date of my railcard so when I show my ticket on the train and railcard they might workout that I didnt have the railcard when I booked.
I cannot see anything online about this so it would be good to know if it is just as long as you have the railcard on the journey that counts.
Thanks

It's having the railcard on the journey that counts.
You might have had a railcard when you bought the tickets but it expired in the meantime and this is your new one. But it doesn't matter.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

Hi the problem is my railcard expired in August and I purchased the tickets whilst I did not have a railcard at all, it was only a week after buying the tickets that I got a new railcard.0 -

So long as you have the valid rail card when you travel, it is not a problem. I bought tickets for my son last week and got the railcard yesterday. He has traveled today, with no problems. It literally takes 5 minutes to get the railcard, so i wouldnt worry!0
