How accurate are the online energy comparison sites if you put in the yearly KwH's us
Hi
How accurate are the online energy comparison sites if you put in the yearly KwH's used?
My contract is up at the end on December so I've been comparing energy prices via the comparison sites. They all said that I would pay more if I moved ..... scary as my monthly payments have doubled since the beginning of the year! Currently on EDF online saver v7. I checked out the actual tariffs on the company websites for EDF and Scottish Power 2013 online and noted down the discounts / stg charges etc. I calculated the prices using the KwH for 12 months for both my current tariff and Scottish Power online fixed 2013. I took off the discounts and added on the standing charges etc, but I came out with really different savings to the comparison sites so now I don't know whether to hang in with my current supplier edf online saver 7 or move to a fixed online one ....
... am I missing something?
Tks

online saver 7 is ending at the end of december - you`ll be moved to edf standard at that point;
and yes using your annual consumption figures is the best way for comparison - the tariff you looked at is a fixed tariff to 2013 - if your happy with a variable tariff there will be chpeaer options than fixed 2013.
sadly you missed the good fixes from edf - fixed saver v2 and fixed 2014 (both now ended)0 -
They are pretty accurate give or take a couple days as they constantly update.0
