A hopeless place?

Not a fan of Rihanna but loved seeing wee snippets of Bangor/Belfast in the video. The best bit was finding out that the Chris Brown lookalike is called Dudley O'Shaunessey - you couldn't make it up!

So slighty off topic. The MTV EMAs being held in Belfast next month - what's the chances it'll pass off without a bombscare? That would say more about our wee country than a video that most of the population won't even see.

I found it hilarious... all these people dying to meet her and all the time she has every intention to portray them as the filth at the lowest level of society.

I can't believe the over-reactions people are having to the fact that she filmed the video in Belfast. She was here performing for three nights, it obviously worked with her schedule and unless you know where it was filmed here, there is nothing which would tell anyone where it is! Face it folks, how many music videos do you know where they were filmed (aside from those in instantly recognisble places like NY or LA)? It's such a non-issue!

As others have said it was filmed here because it fitted into her schedule. If the tour dates took her to Germany the video would have been filmed there.
It was nothing to do with protraying Belfast as a hopeless place and there is no mention of Belfast in the video.

It is quite presumptuous to think that one is able to comment for the locations for a mega star's videos! Irrelevant of any of this... she did film it in Belfast and managed to find some really crappy parts which fit the bill extremely well... we didn't see a lot of the upper malone road, sunny skies and Porsche 911s...

LOL if Rihanna had of been on tour those particular days in Cardiff - it would of been filmed there. If she had of been in Dublin/Birmingham/London it would of been filmed there. I'll take a stab here and say it was down to Cost-effectiveness and timing, NOT Belfast :rotfl:
