Car accident - Fault Admitted

My Girlfriend had a car accident last week whereby she drove into the back of another vehicle. Unfortunately (being honest):A , she admitted fault at the scene.

She contacted her insurance company, DirectLine, to report the accident and declared that she admitted fault at the scene, and now directline say they refuse to pay for the repairs to her car.

Any advise on what we could do would be much appreciated.

Sorry, I dont think you have been told the whole story.

Never have I heard of DL refusing to handle claims based on what is said at the scene of the accident nor any other insurer for that matter.

What level of cover does she have? My guess is that she doesnt have comprehensive insurance and therefore is not insured for the damages to her vehicle because of that... the fact she admits liability means that she cannot claim off of anyone else either for her damages.

  • Sorry, should have stated she IS fully comp.
  • I can't understand why they won't pay up for repairs if she is fuuly comp.
I'm insured with Direct line, and they paid out on the two occasions I have had to claim, once when reversing my comapany car into a low wall, killing the bumper and again when the wife didn't set the hand brake properly on her car so it rolled down our driveway hitting the gate post mangling the rear quarter.
Ring the claims line again and ask why.
  • She's tried to call them again and they said they will investigate and call her back tomorrow morning.

It's just annoying that its been nearly a week now of calls to them and all we want is permission to get the car repaired, especially taking children to school with the current weather.

If they don't call by tomorrow afternoon, she will call them again and I'll post the latest.
