Disability tax credits - what checks do they do?

Hi I have been off work for 6 months with SSP and recently was allowed to claim ESA due to a long-term disability that has deteriorated since I had my chldren, combined with depression/anxiety. Due to pressure from my employer I have recently returned to work, 30 hrs pw, although I am finding this tough going I need the earnings for my family and I know my organisation needs me. The 30 hrs was agreed with my manager due to my inability to sustain full-time work.

I have applied for disability tax credits on this basis, however I have been told they will check my circumstances. Obviously I have no problem with this, I have nothing to hide, but just wanted to know what checks they do? Also how difficult is it to get this, do they normally turn people down? I really need this as it would make up the shortfall from the reduced hours, I genuinely can't work full-time due to severe lethargy with my condition. I know I am about to face a deluge of negativity/abuse, but any constructive info would be welcome, thanks.

    Have a look at this:

  • Are you claiming disability living allowance as well? If not it may be worth looking into this as you can claim and work at the same time. Just remember DLA is about any care needs you may have not what your disability is.
Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p
