Looking for a porsche 944 ecu

Options
Hi,

my garage has told me that the ecu for my 1988 porsche 944 has failed. The cost for a new ecu is very expensive. I've gotten some quotes to have the ecu repaired, but repairing it is also very expensive.

I'd be keen to get advice on getting a 2nd hand ecu instead of buying new. The ecu is a Bosch motronic unit (Bosch part no: 0261 200 086).

Thanks!

There are a few on eBay. Check here for the list.
    Good luck!
    Can I help?
  • I regularly check ebay, but for it to work I need one which matches the part number of my old one, and the same year. Have seen it on ebay twice but lost out on both occasions.

    HTH.
if it's more than 10 stone, and that hairy, it's probably not a dog...it may be a wookie.
  • Thanks for all your ideas so far.

Porker, I'll give them a call.

Firstly, if you haven't already done so, join either Porsche Club Great Britain and/or TIPEC. The 944 Register Secretaries will be able to offer you advice.

Secondly, buy a copy of 911 & Porsche World magazine. The various Porsche breakers advertise there, so ring round them all.

Thirdly, when you search on eBay, make sure that you search world-wide and not just UK.

    Best of luck!
