Actually could have avoided it because buyer was asking for a part refund on a 2nd hand item of clothing because 'it arrived with mildew on it'.
I would only offer a full refund despite numerous emails from the buyer.
I knew it was coming, was I wrong to stick to my guns?!

I would have stuck to my guns, full refund on return. Unless there was a chance that it may have had mildew on it.
A neutral doesn't mean much, keep an eye on your DSR's though.0 -
I don't see how it could have happened in transit as item was well packaged, also buyer says it washed out, but still wanted a partial refund...0

couldn't have been mildew then as its the very devil to get out'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0

Another chancer then0

A shame for you - I agree your buyer sounds like a chancer.
Just respond to your neut with something calm and professional along the lines:My apologies once again. Sorry you did not want to return for a full refund.

I had some white karate suits off ebay once and they had mould on them which i had to scrub and even then it didnt come out. I cant believe anyone would sell anything with mould or mildew on. did email them to let them know i wasnt happy, although didnt ask for refund as it wouldnt have been worthwhile trying to package it up and send it back as it was a big parcel.
so it does happen, yuch has put me off buying clothes off there.0 -
I once had a neutral "very happy with the item and buyer"!! Eh, isn't that a positive??0
-
A small point - Could the item have been mildew - y? To be honest if I'd reported a problem and the seller was only interested in a full refund it would make me think they were trying to buy me off - If the buyer made the effort to wash the item (and remove the problem) why not offer then a small refund? After all they've used their time, electricity and washing powder to solve a problem. Most people would, rightly, expect an item to be fit for purpose on arrival0

Have you thought about the fact that the buyer might have been happy with the item and wanted to keep it but wasn't too pleased(understandably) that it wasn't described correctly(if what they're saying is true) And if they knew they maybe would've bid less hence asking for a partial refund?
I had some items(jumpers) arriving with holes, I still wanted to keep them but obviously would have bid less if I knew about the holes, so yes I did ask for a partial refund.0
