What model is an Astra Artic please?

Son's van has seized and he needs to buy a cheap car quickly to keep working. Have seen a 1999 Astra Artic 1600 8 V in local paper but when we go to check insurance cost on it, that model isnt shown in the drop downs on insurance sites.

Can anyone tell me please if this Artic is known under another name.

Can you see the vehicle registration from the photo? Certainly if you put the reg for the one Cajef links to it comes up as an Astra Arctic but if you put in a 1999 Astra 1.6 then Arctic isnt available option. In fact only if you put in 1997 or before will it give the Arctic as an option.

Hi, Ive managed to work out reg number - difficult to see on photo and entered that and its come up as basically a 1600 astra so I guess the artic bit is just a special edition of the car. Thanks for your help. Insurance will cost twice as much as the car to buy! Oh well.

Listed here as just a particular variant of the Astra

Having built the Astra at the time in question, the Artic is just a Merit with a facelift. IE: interior, alloy wheels, and 'Air-Con' hence the name 'ARTIC'.

Not to disimilar to the Diamond models and the model they had out for Euro 96, just facelift versions with a few added extras thrown in.
