we went totally pear shaped by running out of rice which was on the menu 3 times - however I improvised around it andwe ate from the freezer off plan. New month being planned this week so will post then!

Hi, Hope you don't mind me saying, :o but we sometimes have whatever you would normally have with rice, on jacket potatoes :) Just wondered if that would have helped.

Okay. I think this is the plan this week:
Friday: Pie and wedges with peas
    Sat: HM Pizza
Sun: Roast (quorn for me, chicken for DH)
Mon: Pasta Bake and Garlic Bread
Tues: Cheese Beano (think DH is having Sausage and Mash)
    Wed; Omelette and salad
Thursday: Risotto (with either garlic bread, or salad or both)
Friday: Fireworks food at the Firework Display we are helping at, and a baked potato with beans and cheese if that isn't enough.

Lunches will be HM bread sandwiches, with Marmite for DH because he really likes that on a sandwich (on its own:o!), and probably quorn or cheese with salad for me. Crisps, yogs. Cupasoups for DH. Fruit

Breakfast: cereal, some tinned fruit, boiled eggs, toast if wanted. Fruit juice. Buckets of tea!

I'm just about to do some batch cooking so here's my meal plan, of course I'll probably end up switching a few days around.

    fri: spicy veg
    sat: celariac chips & sausage
    sun: dinner at friend's
    mon: curried veg
tues: squash & sweet potato soup
    wed: raw vegan chilli salad
    thur: vegetable bake
    fri: curried veg

Will also be eating the soup and chilli salad for lunches. I'm also making some lemon frozen yogurt and frozen coconut pudding.

not sure of days yet but :
    jkt potatoes, beans and cheese
    burgers and chips
    spicy sausage pasta bake
    bns risotto
    hm pizza and dough balls
    shepherds pie
    Sunday roast as usual
  • OK, first go at *describing* my meal plans. Last week went to plan with a bit of re-organising and grubbing around in the freezer.

Groceries just delivered, in one of Ocado's rare free delivery slots.

    Here goes:

Sunday 30; Locro (south American beef & chickpea stew; should be enough for 8 with half into the freezer); fifteens for pud (the children will make these I hope).
Monday 31; Chicken & veg stir fry (mostly veg, and mostly because there's a pot of left-over gravy from the chinese-style pork potroast we had last week)
Tuesday; Twice baked potatoes with mushrooms and prosciutto (dealing with a huge mushroom glut courtesy of 'Pound-a-Bowl' down the market;)
Wednesday; Chicken & red pepper pasta
Thursday; Green Chili Tortilla Soup Surprise (it is neither green, chilli, nor soup, and there are no tortillas. It got adapted and is probably best described as slightly Mexican mince), and corn muffins
Friday; Sweet Potato & tomato soup; fresh bread
Saturday; Tuna Melt bagels for lunch, off to brother's for fireworks at supper time and I *think* they're cooking for us.

In case of emergency: there are four frozen meals in the freezer, most requiring a starch but, hey, couscous. I should plan for us to eat a couple of those in the next week or two.
Make £2023 in 2023: (all decluttering), current total £2860 me, £330 for friends & family, £468 charity donations.
  • Hi All,

A touch late again. Last week was hopeless, C and Y ending up at opposite ends of the country. Let's try again...

Monday: Smoked mackerel with orange and hazelnut green beans, couscous
Tuesday: Pumpkin tamarind curry with rice
Wednesday: Celeriac, apple and cider soup
Thursday: Walnut and pomegranate-stuffed fish with rice and spinach
Friday: Paneer, cashew nut and apricot masala with HM chapatis
Saturday: Baked potato, cottage cheese, salad
    Sunday: LO masala

    Have a lovely week,
    C&Y

For the first time in a while I have done a monthly plan, so should make posting on here a lot easier.

    Monday - college

    Tuesday - [STRIKE]chicken fajitas[/STRIKE] cinema

Wednesday - cheese and onion omelette with potato wedges

    Thursday - college

Friday - pork and apple casserole with mashed potato (time for the slow cooker to come out!)

Saturday - homemade burger with potato wedges and coleslaw - might be going to my sisters

Sunday - sausage rigatoni with garlic bread

I might be going to the cinema on Tuesday or Wednesday, so will need to work round that.

Ok, slight change already as still not sure when/if i'm going to the cinema so i'll put the pork casserole off until Friday as i'm pretty sure I won't be going then
    Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100
  • We are as follows (mostly ferreted away in the fridge and freezer already)

Monday: Chicken & Broccoli Bake with Baked Potatoes DH: Corned Beef Hash

Tuesday: Spaghetti Bolognese DH: Eggy Bread, Sausage & Beans

Wednesday: Shapherds Pie DH: Corned Beef Hash (again...had to use up whole tin of corned beef)

Thursday: Beef Stew DH: Cheese Omelette

Friday: Potato Bake & Veg DH: Potato Bake and some kind of processed rubbish meat (sausage/burger etc)

Saturday: Chicken Curry & Naan Bread
