Thanks JulieGeorgiana for starting us off again...
Hi All
A little bit pear shaped last week, but not too bad.
So, this week:
Thurs: Post Sausage & Mash (we were supposed to have last night, but got home too late to cook)
Fri: Something quick - probably Omlette (DH out)
Sat: HM Fish Pie with Swede & Potato Mash Topping, plus veggies
Sun: Eat at DHs Parents
Mon: Salmon with Dill & Cream Sauce with pasta & veggies
Tues: HM Lasagne from the freezer & Salad
Wed: Not sure yet as its 2 friends' birthday and MILs birthday (yes all on the same day) so might be going out
Still using bits up from the freezer and hoping this menu will empty it a bit more. Really got to get new fridge freezer for upstairs as have a feeling that there are going to be more frozen purchases (especially with the deals on the run up to Christmas).
Have a good week all.

Hello, thanks for the new thread JulieGeorgiana.
Back for another attempt after my semi-disaster last week:o. I ended up getting a Mr A order on Monday so have veg again:j
So it was roast chicken on Monday night and the LO have lasted me (in various different ways), the dog & both cats all week so far!:D
I am finding this really hard... it's a total change for me.
I'm starting to "get it" - I've 3 meals with bacon in for next week (a lot for one week) but the full pack will be used rather than using a few bits & the rest going to waste!
Anyway, here goes with another attempt (will start from tonight as I know what I'm having for a change;)):
Thursday - LO Chicken & Leek Risotto
Friday - Beef *
Sat - Chicken breast stuffed with soft cheese & wrapped in bacon with potatoes & veg
Sun - LO Beef (& then freeze what's left)
Mon - Carbonara Pasta
Tues - Bacon & Mushroom Fritatta
Weds - Spag Bol (F)
* found a bit of whoopsied top rump in the freezer this morning and it could really do with being eaten as it's been lurking in there way too long!
Not quite sure what to do with it yet (which is probably why I put it in there:o .... maybe something in the SC? - ideas welcomed!:)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Thought I'd get my hand back in at mealplanning...
Here goes:
Thursday - Not sure, something quick
Fri - Enchiladas
Sat - Sausage Casserole with Mash & Veg
Sun - Meat Feast Pasta Bake (Using up leftover Sausage Casserole)
Mon - Lamb Tikka Kebabs with Salad
Tues - Chinese style pork ribs with salad and chips
Weds - Not sure.
Top rump - sounds absolutely perfect for a pie filling. Cut it up into chunks and coat in seasoned flour. Put it into the slow cooker with a stock cube, some water (or beer works lovely), carrots, onions, mushrooms or other veg and maybe a little garlic and cook on low for 6 hours or so. The smell will be amazing. Anyway, make up some shortcrust pastry and line a dish with it, blind bake for 15 minutes and then put the filling in with more pastry over the top. Bake until golden and serve with mash and veggies, and leftovers the following day are great for lunch or as a main meal again (depending on how much you have left) with chips. Always a favourite chez Kitchenbunny.

Sunday -- Roast lamb dinner
Monday -- Lamb curry & rice
Tuesday -- Lamb Stew
Wednesday -- Sea bass with rice salad
Thursday -- Bangers & mash
Friday -- Spag bol
Saturday -- Chilli & riceTry to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -
KB - darn you, you've got me craving beef pie now!
This week for me will be (pie-free, sadly):
Friday - sausage casserole (F) with garlic bread
Saturday - vegetable tagine with feta filo (filo (F)) parcels
Sunday - savoury mince (F) cobbler
Monday to Thursday -
chickpea and pasta soup (with thanks to the lovely forumite who tracked down the recipe for me :A)
chicken (F) and mushroom stroganoff (cream for the sauce (F)) with oven chips (F)
ginger pork chop (F) with veg noodle stirfry
jacket potato, beans and cheese
I'll be making a 'weetabix' cake this weekend, except that the cereal component will actually be a well-known brand of low fat flakey cereal which was sent to me for a product trial and which I don't much like in a bowl with milk. (It's an experiment, but there's a thread on here about using up cereal which says it should work - fingers crossed!)
Have a good week, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Thanks for the reminder JulieGeorgiana.
Ok I am making holes in the freezers - which is good news!
Sun - Beef stew, parsley dumplings, mash and veg.
Mon - Eyeball pasta *
Tues - Lamb chops, minted new potatoes & peas/soup and crusty bread for me.
Wed - Macaroni for the kids/Using up some of the filled pasta lurking at the bottom of the freezer for the grown ups - with some sort of sauce.
Thurs - Sausage surprise (I don't know what it is yet!) - using some of the 18 sausages lurking in the freezer - :rotfl:might need to give the SC it's 1st outing
Fri - Steak pie, mash and veg
Sat - Veggie lasagne with roast potatoes
*ok mozzerella pearls squished into scooped out cherry tomatoes that have been halved with a "dot" of basil placed in the centre of the "eye"... served on green tagliatelle with a basic tomato sauce... but it is halloween so eyeball pasta sounds better
Have a great week everyone0 -
Rising from the Ashes if you are saving money and working around what you have rather then buying extra food, and avoiding takeaways then you are pretty much a success! Last week I think we had what we planned at the start of the week twice, but we only used what was in the fridge and freezer and didn't buy extra ingredients in for our meal changes!ChasingButterflies wrote: »Mon - Eyeball pasta *

I would put it in the slow cooker with some red wine, shallots, garlic & tomato puree.

Ohhhhh that sounds wonderful:D it'd never even occurred to me to cube it before putting in the SC!
I was going to say that I don't have any pastry - guess I'll be trying to make my own for the first time!:)JulieGeorgiana wrote: »Rising from the Ashes if you are saving money and working around what you have rather then buying extra food, and avoiding takeaways then you are pretty much a success!
Thanks, I'm making progress (slowly). I think being housebound the past few weeks has helped as I'm having to make do with what I've got rather than running to the supermarket several times a week if I fancy something!I would put it in the slow cooker with some red wine, shallots, garlic & tomato puree.
Serve with mash or chips
Ohhhhh that sounds good too!
I did find another bit:o so will try that in a couple of weeks.
I really need to sort the freezers out - I'm lucky enough to have 2 (thanks to DM upgrading:D and getting a bigger one) and try to keep "raw ingredients" in the outside freezer and "cooked meals" in the inside one.
I have a pretty good inventory of what's in the outside one, but have obviously had a "blip" as have found a few bits of meat lurking in the inside one (which is why I've forgotten they're there).Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Hello all,
Last week went to plan, it usually does though.
Friday: Always Chip shop chippies
Sat: HM Beef Casserole with potatoes and veggies - That sounds an awful lot but I make two casseroles at a time and portion it up. Then have a smaller portion of the casserole (about a slotted spoon full) with further veggies and potatoes.
Sun: Pork steak with potatoes and peas
Mon: Pasta sauce from a jar with pasta.
Tue: Chicken curry and rice, I roasted a chicken for tea last night and portioned the rest up. The sauce is from a jar, the Sainsburys Basic one as it happens
Wed: Same as Saturday
Thur: Same as Sunday0
