Kindle guarantee

Having decided on the new lighter Kindle from Currys - Currys are offering a 5yr guarantee on it for an extra £10 over the £89. This sounds a worthwhile deal to me - anyone got a different view or cheaper way of buying/protecting it? Thanks.

I never bother with extended warranties. I know it's only £10 but is it worth it given the price of the Kindle in the first place? You might want to go through the T&Cs thoroughly first:p

Amazon's CS (at least for the Kindle) is extremely good so you'd have no worries during the first year anyway. Who knows how much Kindles will go for in 5 years time? Maybe £50 or less

Edit: my K3 is now just out of warranty, however if I were to have a problem with it, I'd still call Amazon and see what they'd be willing to offer - they make their money on selling the books, not on selling the Kindles so it is in their interest to keep a Kindle in your hands

Curry,s extended coverplan. There are plenty of horror stories about there plan. But am sure just as many good stories.

Did look at kindle from curry's, it is part of there xmas deal, so get £10 voucher back.

Yes of course , I appreciate that, just wondered how you got the voucher , as when I went to buy a couple of days ago, no mention was made of a voucher. ( They ended up not having the light Kindle in , hence me still needing to buy)

Actually, where did you see 5 years for £10? Looking at the £89 Kindle page on their site where it says "whatever happens cover from £22 for 3 years" and then when looking at the whatever happens cover details, it says that it's for products worth £150 or more

Edit: saw from post above that you went in-store. Maybe the £10 voucher is an online-only thing. Though obviously only worth it if you intend on buying something else from them!

Yes I saw that , thats why £10 seems a bargain, from Currys themselves. The salesperson at Currys was pushing it -(perhaps he got it wrong but OH and I both heard him) Ive just looked up the £10 voucher offer, and its against the Kindle 4 - is that the new light one I wonder . If the voucher isnt available against the new light one, maybe the cheap insurance is instead.

yes, the new Kindle (£89) is the K4, the ones with keyboard are the K3. Just in case you aren't aware of other differences between them, apart from the obvious, the new model has half the battery life, less than half the storage space (still plenty though) and can't play audio books.
