being cheated out of no claims bonus

ive been driving for 30 plus 10 years claim free,, last year i filled an insurance quot out on line ,,,,at that stage i had 9 years no claims,, when filling in the form it stated HOW MANY YEARS NO CLAIMS DO YOU HAVE ON A VAN as i had van insurance one year previous i stated this ,,,,,i did look at the question a few times ,,,and had it of said vehicle i would have stated 9 years,,, and though no more,,about a week later i recived a letter asking for some proof of no claims i had on another policy which was my wife's ,,, i thought this strange and phoned them,, they explained that they were giving me a discount based on i had been driving on my wife's policy,,, at this point i told them that i had my own which confirmed 9 years which i sent them,,, the person said that they would then alter the information to reflect this ,,,,, i have my renewal now from them which says have two years no claims,,,,, i now have insurance quoit from other insurers 500 pound less ,, my problem is thay will want proof of no claims which now states 2 years,,, fortunately i have the policy from the previous insurance which stats 9 years what do i do?????
