Santander Business Account - Advice needed
LBLS
Hi Guys,
I opened a business account for my sole trader business last week and I have received my paying in book but it has my business name on their twice. Went to branch and they asked if it shuld be business name trading as my own name. I said I thought both would be on there but didnt know how afterall they set the account up for me.
She just rung me back to say thats all they can do and on my bank card it will just have my personal name. Does anyone know if this is correct? I thought my business name would be on there too. She said she didnt know
Any advice appreciated xxxx

sole trader bank books etc should be written as joes bloggs t/a joe bloggs plumbing. in other words your own name t/a business name0

On my Barclays business account they have it as:
Company Name
Personal NameEstate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0 -
I don't see there is a major issue here. I have an account with Santander and it is as you describe - business name only on paying in slips and cheques and my name only on the card. When I pay in a cheque made out to my name it is accepted regardless of what is printed on the paying in book. If I use the card I just tap in the pin. Names on the card and paying in book seem irrelevant.0

It is really only the cheque book where it may be important due to the image it gives and your suppliers tying things up. When I was a sole trader the cheque book had My Name t/a Company Name on it. Didn't have a card for that so cannot say what would have been on that.0

That sounds about right. The paying in book will be a general one for your company so will have the company name. However you might have several bank cards issued to different employees so they will have your personal name(s) on them. I know my co. is slightly different as it is a Ltd but I think the same would apply to sole trader as you can still have employees. I'm with HSBC btw.0
