Postage problem

I recently purchased an item from ebay and the postage cost was £7 for RM standard parcels, but when it arrived it had been posted 2nd class post at £2.16.
Now my question is should I send a nice message saying about the different type of postage and ask for a part refund, but if they refuse can I report them to ebay for using a different delivery type ?
thanks

  • What sort of item was this, and were you surprised by the quoted postage price before bidding?

The item was a glass bottle and I thought wrapped properly it would be quite heavy and be in a box, but I now find out I was wrong,

I guess you could contage the seller and say you were surprised that the postage shown on the item was considerably less than the amount you were asked to pay - you might get lucky & they might offer you a refund incase they worry you'll give them low stars on postage costs.

Ask for a partial refund! I think if it was £2.16, I'd only expect to be charged a maximum of £4 for P&P

If you don't get partial refund, give them negative/neutral feedback

I'd contact the seller & say that you are unhappy about the extra postage you were charged & ask for a partial refund.
Parcel post & 2nd class are generally about the same in terms of length of time to deliver, so I'm not too sure why you would even be considering complaining to ebay.
If you don't get a partial refund then you can mark down the p&p stars.

Neutral at the worst, really I'd give positive even with no partial just put down the P&P star as it's the low stars that do the real damage
  • It does not matter what the actual postage cost, you knew the price when you paid for the item.
The P&P is one thing I always look at first
    Owing on CC £00.00 :j
